I'm through the first quarter.  Gifford had his hand on the ground for about four plays in a row when Oregon was inside our 20.  I think three of those plays were runs.  Those are the only plays so far where he could at least be considered to be in position to "rush the passer".

 
I'm going out on a limb; but if he'd showed any sign of being any better pass rusher then we have playing ahead of him, i think he'd be playing!   I'm fairly sure that the coaching staff doesn't just push great players down the depth chart to keep them from playing!

I'm assuming you're saying this because of his pass rush.  But our OLBs are rarely rushing the passer.  They are trying to cover receivers 30 yards downfield.


Tell us how you really feel about our OLB's job they've been given in this defense  :D
