Had a pretty good scare.

Wanted to share the event full evening I had with you guys. Oklahoma is very very low on total rainfall for the year. Consequently we have been under a burn ban for several months.

Around 6:00 this evening my 13 year old son comes in screaming that there is a fire behind my house. I have a cement ravine behind my home that has overgrown brush in it. In the matter of seconds the fire has spread quickly.

Before I could get my 2 year old son secure in my home my 13 year old son and two of his friends had grabbed my hose, put another hose with it and were containing the fire.

In a age when young men and young woman have a lot of negative things happening around them, I was amazed at how courageous these young men were.

They defenently saved personal property. May have saved lives as I live in a very populated residential area.

The fire department showed up about 10 minutes later and extinguished the rest of the flames. No one lost anything substantial and no one was hurt.

I am so grateful and proud of these young men that I felt I needed to share.

Thanks for reading , OKC

They were at a fairly safe distance with the high pressure nossle. Still glad that it all worked out.

Glad to hear everything turned out alright for you guys OKC. Sounds like you have a pretty brave & composed son. And perhaps he discovered his calling in the process... ;)

despite the serious nature of the events it is kind of funny to picture seeing some kids fighting fire with a garden hose... where i grew up they had this thing called junior fire patrol and the local volunteer fire fighters would take the time to show us some techniques and what to do in case of something like the situation you found yourself in down there. good stuff. did you get a look at the firetrucks? my family business involves manufacturing fire trucks and just curious what make they were..
