Harrahs Sports Sound off.....

...is a local sports show in Omaha. Tonight, they played the few highlights of the 04 football season. Former Husker OL Rob Zatechka (sp?) is a co-host, and he and the host have both said the same thing I have been saying about that team: they did not have NC talent, however, they were no worse than an 8/9 win team. The coaches had terrible game plans and made horrific calls that led to the first losing/non-bowl season in 35 years. :steam :steam They had a clip of cally saying "We're a few players away from being where we want to be." :WTH Is it any reason why the players didnt play for these guys????? Losing coaches who call out a team that won 10 games the year before??? And then to top it off with the "Just one game, just one season blast" Whoa, too much.

Man, just when I started to calm down, this is what I needed to piss me off again!!! :box Great season, cally :(

ff..........i know how you feel, but let's see what develops this season. no doubt cally chose to use some inflamatory phrases last year and just "didn't get it" when it came to the team, pride, etc. that we all feel for NU........i think it has taken him a full season to realize what NU is all about......so let's see how he handles the kids this year and his comments......if he displays the same attitude agin, then we will definitely find reason to fault him and call for his head......

Travis justice is a TOOL. Who cares what his views are. That show is basically worthless. I'm not just saying this because he was bashing the Huskers, it sucks ALL year long.

I think you hit the nail right on the head there. I have tried to watch that show, but I get overwhelmed by the harrah's plugs and the constant pot stirring that he lives for. That an the mental midgets that like to call in. They are always fun. It usually goes something like.

"Hey travis...(belch)...I think that...uh...that....uh....cally sucks and uh...you have the....uh.. best show ever kthanksbye.."

Rob is about the only good part of that show.

Yeah, they had the same amount of talent as the 8 and 9 win OPTION teams. I would like to see the 2000 team, with a heisman trophy winner win alot of games running the west coast offense. What did play calling have to do with 19 interceptions. Im pretty sure the play did not call for JD to throw to the other team.

Actually, I couldnt agree with the two of you more.

That take was Rob's opinion on last year, too, so I feel that it has merit.

Like normal, you are wrong again. While JD wasnt great last year, he didnt call 55 pass plays (against CU) when the run was working really well the week before (OU). Also, JD didnt call for the D to drop 8, rush 3, and hardly ever blitz against Tech. There were also questionable coaching decisions against So Miss and ISU that led to bad losses.

Living in the Chicago area, I've never listened to the Omaha show, but would like to comment on the FUTURE. Its tempting relive the bad games of last year and worry about repeating mistakes, but we can't go back in time.

I believe Cally & Staff are great recruiters. Last year recruiting class was one of the best ever for NU. As for coaching, BC's past record shows that he can be a great coach. Nobody gets to the Super Bowl without knowing how to coach. Lets give him a chance to prove it with talent to actually run the game he wants to run.

GO BIG RED!

Kicking could be attributed to at least one of those losses as well. If memory serves.

Not only that, because you didn't agree with a call doesn't mean it was the worst call in the history of football. ;) Cally is going to call a different game than any other NU coach, that's all there is to it. He will never call a game like Osborne. Why? Because they aren't the same coach and they don't run the team the same way. If at least one of those passes that sailed incomplete in the end zone last year were complete, which they should have been, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

The reason we didn't get lit up for more at OU was because of the play calling.

I agree. However, TO has proven that his way works, unfortunately, cally has not.

I also agree with you about the OU game-they pretty much forfeited that game, tried to get out of Norman with as little damage done as possible. IMO, that sends a bad message to the team.

Is it kind of like the Rome trash talk show?

Eternally

GBR

Oh Oh  good tombstone  :horns2
Kinda like a wannabe show.
Except that Rome is entertaining, orginial, and fresh, while Travis regurgitates what he hears from other people and comes off as bitter and stupid.

Yeah, and Jammal Lord didnt call about twenty quarterback draws a game. Whats your point. I was at every game last year and on almost every play, there was a guy WIDE open. Not kind of open, not threading it in there open, but WIDE open. JD is almost solely responsible for the lack of offensive performance, and as a leader of the team, is partially responsible for the team quitting on the season. All that being said, I wish him the best of luck at North Carolina, and I feel bad about bringing him into a situation he was obviously not ready to handle.
