Harrison Beck

I wonder if Beck has been doing a lot of weight lifting lately? The reason I ask this is because last year I started hitting the weights pretty hard while I was deployed overseas (not much else to do during free time) and developed some severe pain in my right shoulder. The pain was so bad that I would wake up during the night. I had x-rays taken with no damage.

I had a cortazone shot in it and took 3 weeks off from lifting and everything got better.

Can any one out there find out if he has been doing more lifting then normal?

interesting question.....i am curious too, and i am sure, like quite a few others, pretty concerned about this guy and wondering if ths is a durability problem or what?? the pounding that Taylor took last year and still played really well after it was pretty impressive......

i never thought of that before..that is a really good/interesting question. One of my friends had a similar problem, it didn't sound as horrible as yours but still, it's the thought.

I have problems with both of my shoulders and I lift about 5 days a week.........I don't play college football however (hahah) but I've been thinking about going and having the shots and X-rays done as well that's a good point to make though!!!

Could also be the infamous dead arm... I have played baseball all my life, and while I know alot of others who have gotten it, i have never gotten it myself. Some time off from throwing has always cured the problem though...

If you do get a shot of cortazone make sur that you take at least 2 weeks off from lifting, because you can do some serious damage if you dont. The pain will be gone and you will think that you will be able to lift anything.

I am sure that is a possibility but I would have to think that Kennedy and Co. would be able to see that since he is such a great S & C coordinator.

Whether healthy or injured, those who are concerned that Beck might be a bust, just think about Rhett Bomar. The OU QB stunk it up the first half of last year, but he got much better at the end. We need to give Beck time.

Very true. Its hard to say anything about Beck because he hasnt hardly seen any playing time. With the exception of a few snaps. I hope that we are far enough ahead for some legit time at clean up duty this season.

I have heard from sources that Beck hurt his arm just trying to throw it hard. He's gonna be ok, thankfully. I still believe/hope this kid is the real deal.

Also, Taylor came in older, with more experience and playing time. It took him til the Iowa State game to move the offense with any type of consistensy, and look at him now. Beck has barely seen the field and is still a teenager. He needs time to adjust and mature mentally as well as physically. Not to many QBs are ready this early. Of course there are freshman and sophomore QBs that start, but most times, either they are starting out of necessity (nobody else on the team to go to; ie Joe Dailey) or they are a diamond-in-the-rough-like prodigy (ie Tommie Frazier). Hopefully, we blow some people out next season and get Beck some playing time.
