A 73-year-old man who allegedly locked his disabled son in a wooden cage for more than two decades was arrested Saturday in Japan, authorities said.

Yos#!tane Yamasak told police he kept his son, now 42 years old, in a cage inside a hut next to his house in the city of Sanda since the boy was 16 because the teen became "violent," Kyodo News reported.  LINK

That doesn't even make sense.  How could a kid eating a PBJ sandwich affect others who have a peanut allergy?   I mean, don't you actually have to eat the peanut butter to get an allergic reaction?

My gf has a student that has peanut allergies. Her entire classroom is peanut free now. The mother claimed that he had a reaction from an open container of peanuts while walking down the grocery store aisle :blink:

That said, you shouldn't be expecting people to cater to your allergies inside a public store, IMO

Got Netflix? Watch Rotten! They have an episode on food allergies. They have seemingly become more prevalent and severe over the years. Some people are able to adjust and build up a tolerance by ingesting very small, but increasing larger amounts. Knew a kid in college who used to be allergic to the dust,  but kind of out grew it when he got older

Heh, I had no idea that people could *that* allergic to peanuts.  I figured they would only get an allergic reaction from eating peanuts, or at least coming into contact with them.  That must really suck.

On Friday, PGA Tour pro Kelly Kraft caught a bizarre bad break that caused him to miss the cut at the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head, South Carolina’s Harbour Town golf course. Kelly hit what he said felt like a clean tee shot on the par 3 14th hole that hit a bird mid-flight before dropping into the water in front of the hole. <snip> Kraft double-bogeyed the hole and missed the cut and a payday by one stroke.  LINK

So Kelly Kraft hit a bird costing him at least $20,000, and the bird flew away--but PETA still gives him grief?? Clearly PETA hates golf!

Jennifer Riordan died from blunt force impact trauma to the head, neck and torso, the Medical Examiner revealed Wednesday. Her death was ruled an accident.  LINK

Wow, that is scary.  She had her seatbelt on and was still partially sucked out the window.  Other passengers had to drag her back in.  One article said that if she hadn't had her seatbelt on she would have been sucked out of the window--even if she was too large to fit through it intact.
