HDMI cable for the PS3

Not necessarily. If you tell us what type of TV you have, that would help alot. If it can handle 1080p resolution, then yes, HDMI is the best for you. Even if it can't, HDMI still will be just fine, but 1080p is the only resolution that only HDMI can handle. If you have 1080i or 720p, RGB cables (Red/Green/Blue) would work just fine too.

As for what type of HDMI cable, make sure it is HDMI v1.3, but that technology has been out for so long that they might all be 1.3. Really once you know the cable has 1.3 certification, the cheaper the better. The more expensive cables will do the exact same thing the cheaper ones do.

Look at monoprice for buying cables online.

to be clear though...HDMI is better than composite (just the yellow cable). Like night and day difference.

Also two positives is that audio can be sent down the same cable...and for the purists out there, everything stays digital.

Unless of course you plan on picking up the new Pioneer Elite BD player for...oh...$2,200. They say use analog! This machine looks outrageously cool, by the way.

HDMI is better than the 5 cable bundle, and the 3 cable set does not transmit HD content. Also, if audio is important to you, the uncompressed audio from Blu-Ray only passes through HDMI or Optical cables. But all this matters only if you have an HD TV.
