he never has felt his ears ring like they did in Husker country that night.

They should give the "older" season ticket holders some old fashioned megaphones with their tickets and that might inspire them to make some noise.

Seriously. If the energy of the student section could rub off on those old-timers Memorial Stadium would fall apart!!!

PS: Booyah! I'm a backup

It would be the students get yelled at by the old blue hairs to sit down. It's the stupidest thing I've ever seen. It also sucks that the student section is in the endzone corner. It should be behind the opponents bench.

I remember one time, this old lady was sitting by me during the KSU game last year. One time she came back with coffee/hot chocolate, and she had to balance beam across the benches, her old wobbly legs shaking like none other. This tard starts spilling coffee down her arm and leg and is totally oblivious. It starts dripping onto my coat and my seat and I'm like "WHAT THE HELL WOMAN!?". She was totally out of it. She's probably got Alzheimers now but w/e....

That old retarded bat is really bad. She is not noisey enough, spills her coffee, she should be put down.

Of course if your grandmother would attend a game she might be half the fan that that old useless bag is.

Pathetic, where did we get these idiots. Send them back to Huskerpedia where they fit in.

Those useless old blue hairs built this stadium and record for you ungratefull asses. Someday not to far down the road you will be on those shakey old legs, will you still be coming to support this team. My guess from your attitude most likely not.

Respect your elders son. You need a real lessson in being a Nebraska fan, because currently you are not.

That "woman" has probably been to every one of the 278 consecutive sell-outs. She probably used to yell as loud as I do, just because I'm going to be old one day doesn't mean I'll stop going to the games. What do you want a senior citizen section? You'll be the first one to brag about the consecutive sell out streak but you want to bash the people that have been coming year after year? Classless.

Granted I wouldn't like coffee spilled on me either...

exactly. I am a student here too, but I know the fans that have come before me. They are the ones donating this money to make our stadium and program what it is. Granted, i wish they would cheer louder, but I am certainly not going to degrade those fans who have come before me and who deserve more respect than that.

That would be awesome if the student section was behind the bench. I just wish it was a little bigger though, then it would be louder. Still the best stadium in all the land though.

I will agree the sea of red is nowhere as loud as some places. Kinda depends on the flow of the game. I remember back in the day the OU games would be the loudest. What gets me is how you must sit on your hands at NU games. You are not allowed to stand or someone will tell you to sit down in a lot of sections. At A&M and other places they never sit down all game.

At a time the students did sit behind the bench. They used to sit beside the band. I think that changed in the mid ninties.

That's why I can't wait to go to school there next year. I have always wanted to go to a game where you stand the whole game, and every game I attend I will be standing and being loud, and won't let up at all. It is going to be great. GBR!

I was talking to my uncle today, and he said the student section used to be huge, but under the Byrne admin. it got smaller and smaller. Is this true?

It does seem smaller now than it was. The students were notorious for buying season tickets and scalping them for laundry and Pizza $$$. For awhile there back in the 80's, they didn't sell out the student allotment. That changed in mid nineties when we started winning NCs. I think thats why they moved them and made the section somewhat smaller.

My Mom is 75 and is the first to stand up and cheer or yell or "do the wave". She tells about the old days and "knot hole" tickets that sold for $1.00! We started going to games together about 5 years ago. Now my son is a Big Red fan and we are "3 Generations"! Nebraska football is a great tradition.....always has been and always will be! GO BIG RED!

Suglean,

I agree, I have been to a lot of the major stadiums around the country. We are okay, but not really as loud as some of the others. The Big House, Tennessee, and the loudest I have ever been to is LSU. Loud and very unruly. They claim Montana State I think is one of the loudest stadiums in the country to.

But overall, our fans are the best, for the devoted following of the Huskers for years and years, and the respect given to the opposing team, before and after the game.. I enjoy being at a Nebraska home game more than anyplace I have ever been. Unfortunately, I have been to more away games, alot more than home games.

LSU had the earthquake game in the 80's, so that would have to make it loud if their cheer can cause an earthquake. I heard that the Big House isn't very loud though because the sound goes straight out of it.
