I took a look at some of the past Heisman winners dating back to '95 for comparison. Right now, Rex is on pace for 1323 rushing yards on 247 carries, 13 receptions for 143 yards receiving, 18 rushing touchdowns and 3 receiving touchdowns.
Most all runningbacks have had significantly better stats than this, but Mark Ingram didn't; only 1500 yards running and 18 touchdowns. Ingram wasn't terribly flashy either.
My consensus is that the better team we have, the better chance Rex has of ever being in the discussion, and he can be in the discussion, if our offensive line gets better and our team gets better/higher in the polls and closer to the spotlight.
