Just heard that Chris Mortensen has reported that TO has informed staff that Big RED is on its way to the Big Ten, or what ever they call it. PTI thinks this may be the beginning of the end of the NCAA strangle hold on college sports or at least college football.

Anyone else heard anything?

Watching PTI right now. Wilbon thinks the Big Ten will get 14 or 15 teams (+ Nebraska, Missouri, Syracuse, Kansas) in order to get the football, the good schools, and compete with basketball. I think Syracuse is really out of the blue - unless I misheard him - but it makes great sense for basketball.

I don't care how many teams the conferences get, I just hope this really does signal the end of the bowl system. It would also be very cool to see my Buckeyes play the Cornhuskers every other year or so.

The NCAA has a strangle hold on CFB? I have been under the impression that the NCAA barely has a hold on the beast that CFB has become.

NCAA doesnt even have a clue. The USC thing that started five years ago, they are now just starting to maybe do something about it. Then they sit their and try to police what is going on the football field, when they cant even control whats going off it.

Y'know, personally I think college football is too much like the NFL already. The bowls and small schools are what set it apart. On the other hand, I really like the idea of sharing a conference with the big guns in the Big 30 or whatever they'll call it. No matter what happens, GBR!!

Wow. Just wow. I just heard this news and that's really all I can say right now. It hasn't fully hit me yet and it's going to take some getting used to.

Obviously this is for the better. I trust TO and this was the best move for the University. Gonna miss some things but I guess change is inevitable....

So long Big 12 Conference...

I loved the days of the Big Eight. When the conference became the Big 12 things changed and I have never thought it was a good thing. Now the apple cart has not only overturned it has rolled off a cliff. I'm not real sure I'll be as up for a trip to Minneapolis in November as I have been for trips to Kansas, Missouri, or Oklahoma at the same time of year. Recruiting in Texas, California and the Southeast will probably suffer but its the path TO has selected and I've always backed him in the past. Anyway, Here we go.
