Here's a Texas writers take

you know last time i checked the pac 10 was worse than the soon too be former big XII. even with expansio it will be dwarfed too the monster new Big 10, SEC, and maybe ACC conferences.

So as far as i can tell they are taking a step down from where they were before.

but screw them and their little world they live in. They destroyed this once great conference and that is how history will remember them.

Best thing we Huskers can do now is move on. Big 10 here we come if they will have us and if not adios in 3-4 years.

Osborne is used to being the bad guy...Lawrence Phillips was great preparation for all of this...plus that political stint...I'm cool with being the bad guy...as long as we get out of here.

So Texas wins either way?

Texas wins by losing their own network, the HQ, the title game(s), their puppet is out of a job and UT is no longer in absolute control?

Plus the PAC-10 saw how they behaved in the BigXII. I betcha one or two Texas schools don't make it to the PAC-XX.

Think CU will ever vote with them? Not a chance.

And finally they can't threaten to leave - where would they go? SEC? Full. Big 10? Full. BigXII

At least the weather is nice.

Nice win.

You really believe the SEC is full? If the Big 10 expands to 14-16 teams and the Pac-10 expands to 16 teams, I guarantee you that the SEC will follow suit and expand to 16 teams as well. IMO, Texas will be just fine joining either the SEC or the Pac-10.

You are right - they are not full now.

I was thinking more along the lines of 10 years down the road - after they've joined the PAC-10.

If they threaten to leave again or start throwing around their weight and the PAC-16 gets sick of them.

Now what? The SEC will have already expanded to 16 and the SEC wouldn't want to add four Texas teams.

I'm sure the SEC would always take Texas (and OU) if they become available. As long as it is just UT.

Further, I'll grant you that they will be 'fine' - no matter what they do or who they piss off.

But fine isn't a win.

Honestly, the same bunk keeps getting rehashed by Texas-based "journalists." Texas is a white-knight saving the South from those money-loving Yankees, Nebraska is bitter and jealous, WE WIN WE WIN, etc. There's one glaring problem with this guy's article: how could Texas have "won" in this mess when they're losing the one thing they've desired for so long - their own sports network. That's not going to happen if they go to any other conference. Sorry, Longhorns.

:sigh: I really think there are so many media outlets in Texas that they all just keep talking to each other in a bubble and have no perspective whatsoever outside their world. This struck me as I was listening to Unsportsmanlike Conduct today. They talked to a Texas-based journalist who seemed like he should be a voice of reason, but instead he just couldn't wrap his head around why the Big Ten would want Nebraska. He thought they only wanted Notre Dame and Nebraska was shooting itself in the foot by holding out for an invite. It seems to me most people (journalists and fans) in Big Ten country have been pretty damn excited at the prospect of NU joining them. But to a Texan, I guess, it's hard to wrap your head around a lot of things.
Texas journalism - BAH. Remember a couple of years ago the fake OKC newspaper article that said a couple of players were suspended? Slobbering Texas journalists grabbed it and proclaimed it as truth - even though it was on a message board and without any checking of the story?
