Tale of two days: Saturday I stopped off at the course near my house to hit a few iron shots at the driving range. I was hitting my irons as well as I've ever hit them. Just puring them--every shot. Straight and on target. Then Sunday I thought I'd hit a few more. I couldn't hit an iron to save my life. Terrible case of the shanks, even with my long irons. (I never shank my long irons. Before anyway.) Golf is a very frustrating sport. /shakes head
QMany, 34th Kansas Mid-Amateur Team Champion!
Leaderboard
The conditions were insane. And the field was stout: former D1 and D2 standouts, former Kansas Mid-Am Team Champions, former Mid-Am Players of the Year, former Kansas Amateur champion, recent USGA Am and Mid-Am Qualifiers, etc.
I'm humbled to call myself a KGA Champion for the first time and now be invited to the Champions Dinner!
Nice. Your partner can flat out play. From the same hometown as I am. Pretty sweet that you guys won it and can call yourself champs.QMany, 34th Kansas Mid-Amateur Team Champion!

Good news, golfers! You need to play more. And that's doctor's orders.
A new study conducted by 25 European doctors and international experts has determined as much, citing the cardiovascular health benefits of playing the game (Of course, it helps to walk) like lower cholesterol and blood pressure. But as obvious as that sounds, there's a lot more the sport offers for your social well-being.
“Social interaction is the risk factor which has been undervalued,” Roger Hawkes, the former chief medical officer of the European Tour and one of the authors of the study, told CNN. “Mental health is a big thing in this day and age, and moderate physical activity is associated with a reduction in anxiety and a reduction in depression.”
Very cool. Best of luck to him and his teammates. My youngest son is currently in South Carolina playing in the National Fellowship of Christian Athletes Golf Tournament representing Nebraska. They won the regional in Lincoln 2 months ago and won the state tournament in Valentine about a month ago. He and 3 team mates left Thursday morning and played a practice round Friday. The tournament is today and tomorrow.
The team from Nebraska that my son was on ended up tied for 7th place. I'm not sure if every state had a team playing or how many were there. He said the course was beautiful. They were at Kiawah Island SC. The Ocean Course and also Osprey Point.Very cool. Best of luck to him and his teammates.
