I don't want him gone, yet. 

Even if he goes 1-7 and things get as bad as they are probaly going to, very gew coaches get fired this year. To many budgets probelms and unknowns about next year.

I do firmly believe his clock started on him being gone though. He is paying for coaching in the bowl game and not recruiting year 1, bringing up is ucf staff, and constantly calling out his players.

There is just so much wrong its hard to not write a book on it. But when we lose the next three games by over twenty the naysayers are going to get loud. 

The calling out players is something I loathe

I wish, effective immediately, all interviews with players and with coaches would stop. I know there are media people that make a living off of conferences and interviews, but more talking and more access is a detraction.

The most confusing thing to me about this whole thing is how, from fourth-string walk-on to Ted Carter, and all the players, coaches & AD in between, this team was united in being ADAMANT that they wanted to play football this year. Loudly fought for it despite public backlash.

How does that team go from being so amped up to play in September to being blown out at home by a bad Illinois team a few weeks later? What changed?

So much good stuff to go on in this thread. Where to start......I am with you 1000% percent on this.  I've said numerous times this season just seemed different.  With all the "we want to play", pushing the B1G, starting the ball rolling, players staying here etc.....I truly thought we would see a new product.  The "real" Scott Frost team with his guys, culture and scheme......Now at 1-3 with our only win against an 0-5 PSU I wonder if we have......Not the one we imagined, but the actual product he can deliver here.  In season 3, I see nothing to give me confidence......

I'd like to remind folks that Riley was 9-4 his second year.  Before his third year began, he was forced to fire Banker and the AD, along with some influential boosters, hired Diaco.  Diaco's defense is reason #1 why 2017 was garbage.  Riley wasn't responsible for that.  All this stuff about his team being soft, etc. are excuses used by some Husker fans to provide coverage for the god awful job Frost has done.  There are fans so desperate for a winner, they'll lie to themselves and pretend things will get better despite no evidence of such.  Heck, there are guys who said Riley's team was soft because they weren't doing back squats.  That's how silly the excuses have become.  Welp, they're doing back squats now and we got the supposed savior and Illi-freakin'-nois just boatraced our boys in Lincoln.  Nebraska is now in last place in the West during Frost's third season.  

Somebody above stated Frost inherited a dumpster fire.  I'd argue he's the one who lit the match.  Frost ushered out players who would be very helpful today.  Gebbia threw, rushed and caught a touchdown pass today.  He's not good in his first year as a stater, but he's lightyears ahead of Martinez while playing with guys who got a lot less stars from recruiting services.  But ushering those kids out has given the sunshine pushers another excuse.  The excuse of youth.  Who here really thinks this program will be clicking and challenge for the Big 10 title in two years?  

When Frost was hired, I danced a jig just like most others.  I thought he'd bring the Oregon offense with him.  I jumped off that bandwagon midway through last season.  I can't deny what my eyes tell me.  The team lacks talent.  They lack discipline.  They get pushed around easily.  Their offense resembles something Notre Dame ran in the 1940's.  Then there's the biggie.  They aren't improving.  And can we please get a center who can snap the ball.

The reality is I couldn't stand the Riley hire.  Hated it from day one.....The other reality is for all of my dislike of that hire, Frost at the same point in his career here is worse......Like bolded, I soured on Frost as I watched the same season play out last year.  Coaches making numerous mistakes that I'd expect from completely inexperienced guys, what appears to be no accountability, discipline for the players.....Zero improvement save for Herculean individual players that succeed in spite of the system.......Our vaunted S&C looks good on the video, no different on the field. Watching the OU vs OSU game last night, either team would've hung 100 points on NU....Fast, physical, well coached....Saw Lincoln Riley pull Bookie for his trash talking after a penalty......Accountability....We "look" nor one around like any of the teams I watched yesterday....Like one of our beat writers said, sand lot football drawn up in the dirt......

Year 3, I have no idea what his scheme is.  What the identity is other than poor play, penalty and mistake prone.....

As to the center issues....Will is a center yet doesn't play even over a hurt Cam or his non-center brother....Year 3 and he isn't better? I know he started at OSU, but has played sparingly since....

No receiver depth

 The list could go on, but like you, I can't deny what I see or hope in what I do not....This team needs a reset. IMHO, try with scheme on both sides of the ball and see if Frost can't get a staff that has the creds to succeed in the B1G.  Frost needs help, needs to realize this or he will not be here much longer......And before people say we can't keep firing guys, if it wasn't Frost he'd probably get one more year max from Moos (2020 being a wash)

Both teams had starting freshman QBs.  They looked like veterans at times and lost at times but they could sling to ball all around. 

I also want to add that the "depth" issue is a poor excuse.  We have depth but it is young and talented.  If we are going to take an a$$ kicking like yesterday, then use the younger talented kids and have a legit excuse for the loss.

Yes, you are 100% correct.  I am not saying his performance doesn't warrant the hot seat, I am just saying it is not practical and will only continue to feed this endless cycle of misery. We are stuck for a bit, so hopefully fans will support rather than undermine. It's all we can do. 

@HANC, so, do you think that the solution to Jergens is to run a lap around the track?  What is the solution to you?  To me, the current solution is undermining the integrity of the program.  

I'm killing Jergens.  He is running a 10:00 mile for 10 miles for every bad snap in the game.  What is Luke's consequence for three [3] turnovers?

Everybody loves to say this but we are playing the younger talent A LOT and so if you are in this camp, then you have to take your medicine when it is dished up, as it was yesterday. Bunch of freshman and RS frosh turning the ball over 5 times.... That's an "L" in any game on any Saturday.  So, you can't scream to play the youth and then be pissed when the youth misfire so often it leads to an L. I am in the play the youth camp 100% but when things like yesterday happen, I look at myself in the mirror and say, "that's what you asked for, hopefully the gamble works over the next 2-3 years."

We gave up our recruiting base by moving to the arctic mastodon league. We thought the success of Frost would start the recruiting train and for a very short time it did. We thought west coast flag football would work on the tundra when many bowl games have shown that tough power teams kill even the best of those high flying Olympian marathoner clubs. We just got dismantled by a bottom-feeder who does what we do but is successful against nobody else in the league.

Frost can fix this by going back to Solich style and adding a more exciting passing game like Fearless Frankie was trying to do when he got canned or any number of styles that don't require the runner to go it alone.
For defense we just have to get a DC who is better at figuring out these crazy new offenses....they should be disrupting and not giving them all day to run around doing whatever they want.
That's my guess.

As far as what the OP is saying...I too would like to thank the message board fans for insisting on a talented kid with no quarterbacking skills to come in and throw 10 yard passes once in a while and scramble half the time because I'm sure that's the formula we need to beat OSU, Wisconsin, and Michigan down the road. It's been quite the comedy show.

Jurgens should not play. I am a coach for over 25 years. Not the best coach, not the worst. Our teams have had a lot of success and yes, we have had our share of losses and struggles.

Jurgens wouldnt run laps. How does running FIX the issue? Running will fix conditioning, but has zero correlation to bad snaps. He wouldnt be playing until it gets fixed. He would be coming early and staying late and HOPEFULLY there is a coach who can coach him up. Running laps for poor performance is a cop out for not being able to coach them up. Do people really think these play want to make mistakes and should be punished??? Be a hard a$$ coach by taking what is important.  Playing time.

This fallacy needs to die. Texas is literally IN Texas and has recruited the state of Texas better than us and they're still a mediocre team.

Leaving the Big XII didn't harm our recruiting in any way. We pull in just about the same ranked classes we've always pulled in from Pelini through Riley into Frost.

I've coached many years as well, as a Pastor and as a tennis coach.  These thoughts all come from our life experiences.  I'm a runner and have run a number of marathons trying to overcome the limits of my mind.

Actually, I only brought up "running" because Frost has instilled his version of "costs" or "discipline" ... and for him, he made them run a lap as "discipline".  So, in my example, if "running" is the "discipline" ... by no means is it a "lap".  The "cost" is far, far, far, far, far greater.

For me, the mental issues I've come across in tennis players double faulting was never overcome by running a "lap".  If Scott truly wants a "culture shift", he might want to dig a little deeper into his bag of tricks.  

If teams like App State, Coastal Carolina, and Liberty can be successful, much like UCF prior [and Frost did it there], three years later and still seeing a lack of basic work ethic and discipline is more than bewildering.

All we know is ... the current solutions and opinions is not working.

Defensive issues are pretty simple, he hired his friend.

Im a pretty big defender of chin, yeah they sucked today, but 5 turnvover, a fake punt, and inability to maintain drives? Defense keeps getting hung out to dry. That said, his whole Defensive line from last year is playing in the nfl and he couldn't stop the run.

There are massives holes in the roster, but some of these guys have been here 2-3 years and still look lost.

But im just repeating stuff at this point,  every one knows the problems, and the challenges.

Only thing that matters is we look worse this year, then year 1.

Please list every player that has been on the Nebraska roster for 3 years.

I have been reflecting on my own thoughts and opinions I've expressed of how we get that :bigredn:  that I hope is embedded into the hearts of our players.  I still don't have the answers.  I thought Scott did.  I don't know anymore.

Maybe I have a "small mind" ... and a lack of coaching experience ... it certainly could be.  

This movie scene describes both why we beat the Soviets and the "old school" view of toughness and team that for whatever reason still evades :bigredn: .  Until the order is restored, I hope and trust that we don't let anyone where a "blackshirt" until a season proves that it is merited.

Currently, nothing represents a hint of the "good ol' Nebraska you" ... NOTHING.
