LB finds niche
Dontrell Moore isn't the leading contender to replace Barrett Ruud at middle linebacker, but the junior-college transfer's talent for rushing the passer may earn him playing time.
Moore, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound junior, has been practicing as a third-down pass rush specialist, said Husker defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove. Moore's speed off the edge produced 7.5 sacks and 13 quarterback hurries last year at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College.
Moore, along with middle linebackers Corey McKeon, Lance Brandenburgh and Phillip Dillard, are competing for a Blackshirt this fall. McKeon has shone brightest during fall drills.
