I listed Suh and Prince because they are two guys that have had the national talking heads drooling over them. Two guys doesn't establish a trend, but I'd say opposing coaches every week saying, "that's one of the most physical teams we've had to play" is a trend. One guy does not disprove a trend.
How Great is Dobson Suh and Amukumara
So two guys are enough to establish a trend?
I have nothing against Dobson and I think he'll be great. I'm just saying that I think it'll take a few more years of output (positive and negative) before one can really determine his aptitude. I'm anxious to see how his first class of freshmen do once they're seniors and/or running through the combine gauntlet.
Does being a physical team directly correlate with a team's S&C program or does it correlate with a coaching staff instilling a "physical brand of football" in it's players? I believe both are at play and that you can't link the "physical team" brand to the workings of one guy and his S&C staff...especially after a relatively short period of time.I listed Suh and Prince because they are two guys that have had the national talking heads drooling over them. Umm.... Callahan was the antithesis of what Nebraska Football has been about these last 50 years. People ripped on him for very justified reasons.sigh...typical knapp. Beat at his own game so he resorts to the emotion play.
"I can't believe you're dogging us for giving one of our coaches a pat on the back" ? Seriously? Wow...look at any thread from 2007 and you'll see a lot of people praising Callahan...and a lot of people hating him. People "dogging" a coach after someone else has said something nice seems to happen quite a bit.
Also, I think you forgot to read this part of my post:

Good point, I understand what you're saying. Like you said, it's most likely both are at play. I can promise you if I went and played for Bo right now he would be able to get me to go all out and be as physical as I possible could. I can also promise you that after playing against me no team would say I was one of the most physical guys they've seen. I'm not a Division I football player so it's a bit of a stretch, but you can see what I'm getting at.Does being a physical team directly correlate with a team's S&C program or does it correlate with a coaching staff instilling a "physical brand of football" in it's players? I see you failed to notice that I wasn't the only one posting contrary to your point, but you chose to focus on my reply instead. I appreciate your fascination with me, but you have to realize I don't like you "that way."![]()
Ever thought about starting your own boy band knapp?I appreciate your fascination with me, but you have to realize I don't like you "that way."![]()
Stop trying so hard.Looking over my record, it appears as though I did in fact reply to everyone who directly replied to my initial posting. You might have to use your magical MOD powers to find the quoted posts, but I think you probably have a little bit of free time to kill]
Perfect. I agree with this, but will remain a "healthy skeptic" until year 4 or 5 rolls around.A little healthy skepticism is good, but I think Dobson has more than lived up to the hype when he arrived. Probably the best hire after Bo that was made that offseason. It was a real turnaround.
Haha, looks like it. I meant to reply to the prior posts.Really? You replied to everyone?Roy Helu is trendy...
Yeah, I was about to say the same thing.I love what Dobson has done with our team. He knows how to add lean mass without sacrificing speed, in some cases the guys get faster (think Helu). He excels at taking high schoolers and helping them grow into their frames. We've all seen the video of Suh on Sports Science and remember all the talk about how explosive, powerful and quick he was.
They just did a segment on the Combine about Prince. He was wearing a special Under Armor shirt that measured g's guys produced in their workouts. Prince produced more g's on his 40 than any other guy, including receivers that were running low 4.3s. Dobson does an amazing job with these guys.
Not knocking Dobson's work by any means because he's the one working with them over the course of their college careers, but a lot of these guys go train elsewhere for the combine. If you recall last year's combine, Nike did an internet series on Suh and his combine training at the Michael Johnson Performance Center. IDK where Prince trained this year.
Dude...Dobson is good...esp. considering hmmm...lets see...I recall a few Huskers breaking speed and strength records in 2010....Dobsons is a great strength coach...and this is coming from a graduate in Exercise Science...trust me...He is GOOOOODUGAHusker said:"bulked up, added strength while retaining speed"...so essentially you're referring to the vast majority of college football players in America over the course of their careers.
