How long do you give this new regime?

How long do you give this new coaching regime to be successful before pulling the plug?

I say three years, seeing how difficult our schedule is next year and the fact we are testing the waters out. I don't expect a great season from the offense next year under the type of changes we have seen. That being said i hope that finally clicks in the year after or two for things to really show up. I mean its not like Bo's first year here was a 10 win season.

IF we average 9-10 wins over the next three seasons they all will be safe. But with that being said, its going to take some pretty substantial increase in offensive output for that to happen.

especially in 2011......brutal schedule plus new coaches and OC, huge challenge this coming season.

Im giving Tim Beck 1 year. Am I being unrealistic? Maybe so but I dont care because the offensive players are in place for whatever style of offense Bo is going to make him run so there shouldnt be any excuses. If the offense comes out and stinks I am going to demand he be cut loose. If Fisher can get the Running Backs to not fumble and can get someone besides Burkhead to step up then he is an upgrade. If Garrison can teach the OL to not jump early or hold or be able to handle a speed rush then he is an upgrade. If Els can get some of the LBs that have been here for at least 2 years to actually play to their potential he will be an upgrade. If Raymond can get the DBs to continue on the road that they were on under Marvin then he will be fine. Those guys and Bo get at least 3 years, but Beck better produce next year and Im not just talking about against the junk teams.

Els only gets one game to produce some sort of cheerleader antic on the sideline like Ekeler did or I may start calling for his job as well.

Rofl, Get over yourself.

I say 3 years. This year to get aclimated to eachother, we will have growing pains. Year 2, hopefully we have continuity and see great improvment. If Year 2 doesnt pan out expect one more chance. If year 3 there is no improvement its over. Bo's defense will likely cover for the offense most of the time. But with the type of D we have been sporting we need to be winning championships conference and national.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say as long as TO is the AD Bo's job is here as long as he wants to stay. I don't see TO firing Bo.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that TO's days as AD are numbered. couple years TOPS. 3 years from now there will be a new AD in that office. They'll get 2 years just because of the change/schedule. If they don't produce in 2013 - whole staff will be gone.
T.O. right now is only the AD till June 30,2010 and since he only became AD since Harvey asked him he may be gone sooner than some people think. I am more worried about who will be the next AD. never know what you get. He may not give Bo as long they want.

We haven't seen Carnes Beck as QB OC before. Yeah sure, there's film from when he ran offenses, but those were his HS / lower division days. Regardless of any rumors we may have heard about his current promising abilities, I'm not believing them until I see them on the field. It is absurd speculation and we honestly have no idea how good he is. We probably shouldn't even be talking about it. The backup OC is always the favorite coach on the staff. Until then, Watson is the best OC we have.

Sorry, not really that negative. Just wanted to get that in before the official announcement :P I'm skeptical...but full of sunshine. More fun that way.

i don't see Beck turning this thing around into a roaring, unstoppable 18 wheeler in 1 season....maybe not even in 3 seasons! the guy is going to be on overload with coaching the qbs and installing his offense.

that tells me only 1 or 2 qbs will get any real coaching/development....our assistants will need to bring along the scrubs...yes, they will be scrubs.

I want to see improvement this year at the least. Even if it is just a little. I want to see a top 25 offense in year 2. And maybe a top 20 offense after year 3. With our defense, a top 20 offense should put us squarely into the MNC hunt. Im not saying we have to win it, but I want people to consider us a contender again. It should be able to be accomplished in 3 years.

I don't care about wow factor if they can recruit, coach, and represent themselves and the University well.
Neither do I....But if these hires turn out to be duds then Bo is in serious trouble. Bo had a chance to bring in Frost as OC and buy himself a long time here at Nebraska (whether it would have been the right hire or not is up for debate, and has been debated a lot). Im not saying I dont like the hires or anything, cause I really have no clue about any of them. All Im saying is that Bo chose to promote Beck from within and bring in 2 no name coaches. If they don't produce offensively, and quick, Bo is in trouble because fans and boosters will get very restless. TO listens to the fans and boosters.
