How much damage have Callahan and co. done?

Four-Star Recruit
I just got done watching youtube highlights of the 95 team and it kinda hit me that those days were soooooooo long ago. I know all the tradition and everything has helped the program immensely by recruiting and facilities and things like that. My question is after 5 years how much damage have callahan and all his cronies done to this program? We are losing recruits left and right and support from alot of people. Does anyone think that this program is gonna take a long long time to rebuild and possibly never get back to the point it was?

My opinion is that the damage callahan has done has been tremendous and its gonna take a special coach to come in and turn around everything that has gone wrong and truly.... :restore

Callahan and Co. have destroyed Husker football. That's not to say that we won't come back. But for now Husker football is in the dumper and it's been done on Callahan's watch. :hmmph

And, I think it will take another Bob Devaney type of guy to get us back to solid, power football.

It will take a while to get things right. Tom Osborne is right on with his comments on that.

As for getting back to the point it was (I'm assuming you mean mid-90's), it's not going to happen. I doubt we'll be seeing any kind of span of near total dominance like that in college football again. Those teams were that good, yes, but college football has changed a lot in the last 10 years and that's the main reason why it won't happen again.

Unfortunetly it may take a while to recover from this. Does that mean we won't at least be decent? Remeber, it took Dr. Tom 22+ years to win a National Title. As I pointed out on another post, I can remember when TO was the one who, "couldn't win the BIG ONE." Or lost EIGHT straight bowl games and was owned by Barry Switzer and Oklahoma through the seventies and the eighties. Barry won more of those meetings than Tom did. Yet, during all of those years we always had at least nine wins, remember that ongoing record? But, we didn't win a National Title until the mid ninties (TO took over in 72). So, it may take awhile to get back to what we were during the Tommie Frazier era, or we may never, but that doesn't mean we won't be decent or even very good soon.

Oklahoma really tanked there for awhile during the ninties and look at them now. Never say never, but it may take time, stranger things have happened. Look at this season overall!
