HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLD AND DON'T MOVE FAST ANYMORE

GEORGE PHILLIPS of Deridder Louisiana was going up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window.

GEORGE opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and he said "no". Then the officer said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an Officer would be along when available.

GEORGE said, "Okay", hung up. Counted to 30, and phoned the police again.

"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to hurry about them now because I've just shot them".

Then hung up the phone.

Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response Unit, and an ambulance showed up at the PHILLIPS Residence and caught the burglars red-handed.

One of the Policeman said to GEORGE, "I thought you said that you'd shot them !"

GEORGE said, "I thought you said there was nobody available !"

LOVE IT Don't Mess with Old People.

that is the gods honest truth too
Oh? I hope the handcuffs didn't hurt too much...

:dunno
Sigh...

Aside to the board - she's gotta be a blonde...

You stated it was true, without stating what was true. "Speaker implies, listener infers". If the speaker leaves his or her speech littered with multiple possible meanings - inferences - it is up to the listener to infer. I inferred that the "it" to which you referred was the breakin itself - and that the reason you knew it was true was due to the fact that you were one of the individuals arrested for it.

Ar that flew strait over my head......which isnt saying much. ;)

It is early in the morning,

but basically he was trying to be funny by asking how the cuffs felt once the cops arrived and nabbed the people robbing the shed. You see her saying "thats the Gods honest truth too" is allowing him as the person reading it to infer that she was nabbed by the police as one of the robbers
