How to fix CFB?

I think we can see the system is broken and is turning into mass chaos. What can we change? This would have to be inside of the current system.

Here is one thing I think should happen.

Player contracts: 1 to 2-year contracts tied to the university, not the coach. They should last the school year. If you leave mid-year, it is a breach of contract, and money is owed to the current system. Does this take care of most issues?

This seems to be the only way to slow down the Portal chaos. Want the bigger deal? Sign for multiple years. Want the chance to leave after a year? It might cost you.

They need an actual framework of rules and regulations. Enforcing contracts (Georgia) which goes both ways. Schools pay per week or end of month. Opting out of bowl game forfeits NIL/Rev share from that point upon declaration.

A player can only get a free year if:

HC or coordinator leaves.

If cut/dismissed from team

Good standing academically/legally

Or going into last season of eligibility

Proven tampering from school results in a loss of roster spot.

That genie is not going back in the bottle.

I don't think anything should be done for the players. I think it is clear that for years players have been miserable while being stuck at a school that they hated and wanted to leave but really couldn't.

I think the playoff stuff needs to be changed, get it to 16 or even 32. More games is more better!

So when does this chaos filter down to the high school level?
Depending on where you live, the "free transfer" stuff might have been around for a long time.

Here in the Big O (Ironically what I give to girls), it used to be a 90 day sit out period. I honestly don't know if that is still a thing though.

In terms of things that could actually be feasible...

• Transfer portal window moved to May, so as to honor academic calendars but not create a loony tunes scenario of coaches and players leaving their teams before/during playoff runs

• In tandem with the above, you could also keep a January signing window, but you need to condense the playoff schedule. First round second week of Dec, second round third week of dec, semifinals Dec 31/Jan 1, then natty a week after.

• Get rid of a bunch of bowl games. Everyone agreed the bowl market was oversaturated even way before the playoff began, and it's only gotten worse. The Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl just has no justification for existing. There shouldn't be any more than 12-15 postseason matchups outside of the playoff.

• Get rid of the committee. There is absolutely no need for it, and it undermines the process every step of the way. Go back to the BCS rankings or build a new computer system, but the rankings need to be based on objective criteria even if it's not perfect.
