I planned ot take my nephew to the Spring game so he could see the stadium and field. Someone then told me about some Drug Free Pledge the kids do on the field. I would like for him to be able to take part in this for obvious reasons..... But i am moving to another state and wont be able to get back in time. I will have his dad take him, but he isnt even into football.

First, is it true? If so, can anyone let me know what my Bro needs to do to get his kid on the field?

Yes its the greatest thing of all. :sarcasm

Seriously though, 95% percent of those kids and their parents just go down on the field and run around, throwing the football. Its actually quite entertaining.

Yes it's true. At the spring game, Ron Brown leads all the kids in a pledge to be drug free. This pledge takes place at halftime. Usually near the end of the 2nd quarter of the game, there will be an announcement for all kids who wish to take part in the pledge along with their parents to make their way onto the field. They let them enter onto the field right after the team goes into the locker room for half time and the kids can just run onto the field from anywhere around it... there is no particular entrance.

"Nebraska will once again conduct the Drug Free Pledge at halftime of this year's game. Youth (eighth grade or younger) are encouraged to take part in the Drug Free Pledge on the field, and those who do will be admitted to the game for free. Drug Free pledge participants do need to secure a ticket in advance of the contest. Parents or sponsors of the youth taking part in the pledge will need to buy a reserved ticket ($10)." - Link for quote

The kid is free just reserve a ticket ahead of time, the adult will have to pay however. You can purchase/reserve tickets here... Link

He will need to start heading down to the field around 5 mins. left in the first quarter and he will get back to his seat with about 3 mins. left in the game. It is a circus down there but it is fun also and the kids love it.

As was mentioned, you can go down after the game too. My friends and I played catch/"touch" football for a good half hour or so after the game was over last year.

Thank you very much!!!!

I have never been to a Spring game before, but thought it would be good for a 12 year old kid to experience. Some kids may be running around, but I think he would really appreciate the opportunity later in his life.

Thanks again

I've seriously just walked out onto the field before any of the games. None of the security guards stopped me or asked me what I was doing. I followed my wife's cousin's lead. He said, "just act like your supposed to be here!" so I did, and I'll be damned if it doesn't work. :corndance
