In the 2018 Pre-season Coaches Poll, the Huskers got no votes. Sadly, the pollsters were right about that. What about the rest of the teams?
In order from 1 to 10, the pre-poll had Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Washington, Wisconsin, Miami FL, Pennsylvania State, Auburn.
The Final USA Today Coaches poll had these from 1 to 10: Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Florida, LSU, Georgia, Texas, Washington State. So the pre-pollsters got half right and half wrong.
Teams in 2018 that did pretty much as predicted: Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Georgia.
The teams that disappointed the pre-pollsters: Auburn, Miami FL, Pennsylvania State, Washington, Wisconsin.

Teams like Auburn, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Pennsylvania State, Washington, Wisconsin are solid programs having trouble making a move up to the top powerhouses.
As for the Rising Red? With an exciting QB and improving overall culture, we will see how many coaches around the country are taking notice. But we don't need lightning striking at the wrong time in Lincoln again.
