HUGE Rumor

Special Teams Player
Saw this on another board, the guy says he's from Tulsa, OK, and heard it on a radio show...

Dave Sittler, from Hebron, NE and the OWH is THE sports editor for the local paper - he was on this morning's radio sports program discussing the mess in Nebraska.

Supposedly, his sources have informed him that many of the "BIG MONEY" people have already informed the 'powers that be' at the University that changes HAVE TO BE MADE or the money drys up-!!

He also said that those same sources are wanting either Tom Osborne or Dave Remington as AD. Sittler thinks (as many of us do) that Turner Gill would be the most logical replacement for Callahan.

He and the sports jock both agreed that something has to be done ASAP or Nebraska may never again be able attract the kind of players it was used to during the Devaney / Osborne years-!!

Interesting, no?

The big money guys are the reason were in this situation.

Doing a pretty good job at building Buffalo. He may only be 2-4, but it's obvious that he's made them better already. At least they're more competitive...

I don't know about this. It doesn't sound right. Need a little more info than he said she said.

Besides we have a great group of players that could play in a more open offense. The spread offense is stocked right now with the players there. Or any type of offense that throws it around 40 to 50 % of the time, besides who would you get that has any knowledge or success running the option. I loved the option when we were running it under Osborne, time to move on now. I like the more open type offense we are headed to now.

GBR!!!

I am not sure how good an idea it is to have legendary players come back and be head coaches. There are a lot of people at Baylor that want to do that with Mike Singletary, we have had three former players as HC's at Texas State, I just don't think anything good comes of it. If they are successful then of course everything is wonderful. If they fail then it's a disaster because it leaves a lot of hurt feelings and tarnishes that players legacy. Turner Gill has done wonders at Buffalo but two years HC experience at a small program does not prepare you for one of the biggest and highest profile programs in the country.

Rumors are awesome. I smile every time I read a new one.

It's only a matter of weeks before we hear about people "buying houses in Lincoln" or other ridiculous items.

If it is only that the boosters are pissed, I'll be happy.

As for a replacement, my choice is Brian Kelly, HC at Cincy.

We're going through that very thing right now. Many people questioned the hiring of Mike Gundy as our coach. His only experience was as an OC here, and as a position coach at (gasp) Baylor and Maryland. When he was announced, he said that this was his "NY Yankee" job. I believe him when he says it. If he's successful, he'll be here for a long time. But...if we have another two mediocre years, especially with the money poured into the program lately, it could get rough. Heck, there are already lots of grumblings after just 2.5 years on the job.

Gill flips to Rozier, TD! Gill throws to Fryar, TD! He ran one helluva offense back in the day...

What type of offense is he running at Buffalo now?
