Just win and stop relying on JUCOs.
There are programs all over the country in desolate locations, with little funding, and low "nationally recognized" talent pools that manage to put a solid team on the court year after year.
Nebraska has (will have) great facilities, and it seems a dedication to give a coach the resources he needs to win. I don't care if we get 5* players. There are plenty of coaches that know how to recruit and shape their program efficiently.

Win basketball games. I'm not real picky on how it's done, just that we start being respectable. I'd definitely like to start seeing better athletes on the court.

Kids who are recruited to play college BB have one thing in mind. The brass ring that is the NBA. They watch pro ball and see how its played almost every night. That's how they want to play. Our last coach didn't play a brand of offence that is condusive to helping a young man get drafted by a team in the NBA. That's why Neb. couldn't get good recruits. Just find nus a coach who plays uptempo offence and solid defence and make it fun.

1a - Win
1b - get to a point where you're never below 8th in conference, a legitimate shot winning the conference tourney most years, NCAA tourney every couple years, always at least on the bubble.
2 - Do it without prima donnas.
3 - a token homestate kid every year that sees at least 10 mins a game.

1) Own Nebraska. If there is any BIG worthy talent in the State, we must get him. We need to convince these kids from an early age that there is no other place they will want to play. One would hope there is at least one kid per year that would fit this criteria.
2)Recruit better regionally. Be able to steal a kid out of Iowa, KC or the St. Louis area that would normally go to another BIG or BIG 12 school. Find a diamond in the rough from the Dakota's occasionally. Should be another kid per year of this criteria
3)Be able to recruit well in the rest of BIG country. Hit Chicago HARD. Surprise us with a commit from Ohio, Indiana or Michigan. If it can be done in football, it can be done in basketball.
4)Nationally, find that one guy every year or two that could eventually end up in the NBA. If you look at the top basketball recruits, there is quite a large amount that come out of CA and TX that don't end up playing in either of those states. There is no reason we can't get some of these kids either.

+1. Basketball is mostly about recruiting, then comes coaching. I think it is paramount that they get some top 4&5 recruits right away so that they can jump start interest. There are some candidates for medical hardships and Fahro may or may not have that offer honored when the new coach comes in. You may have a transfer or two from players loyal to Doc. These events are opportunities for the new coach to fill those spots with some star powered recuits and will need to be taken advantage of.1) Own Nebraska.
