Husker Coaching Hires: “The Pick Of The Litter”

People seem to forget that we got Bill Callahan not because someone thought he was the best candidate, but because the best available candidates had already turned down the job. I think we ended up with Mike Riley in a similar but less public fashion. If Scott Frost, the hot coaching candidate with the Oregon and UCF credentials, was not a son of Nebraska, it's hard to imagine him picking Nebraska over his other options. 

Fred Hoiberg counts as a legitimate marquee hire for UNL.
