Husker QB - TJ Lateef

There are a lot of runs where EJ is making guys miss at the line or fighting forward for extra yards. But there are also a good number of carries where he's into the secondary untouched. The line has obvious issues in pass pro and I don't trust them in short yardage, but they are a solid run blocking line overall. I'm excited to see how a QB run threat changes things as well.

And, at the same time, we have only had two sacks over the last two games.

Yeah, I think everything starts with the offensive line and ours is far from perfect.

But when an RB who even Husker fans had pegged as mediocre turns into the #2 back in the nation, and the QB still has enough time to complete 72% of his passes (Top 5 in the nation), it wouldn't kill you to admit Dominick Raiola's offensive line isn't exactly wretched.

Back to the subject: when that OL does break down in pass protection and the QB has the wheels to take advantage of that huge stretch of green before him, it really takes a defense out of its comfort zone. Our next three opponents will likely operate a Stop Emmit Johnson First strategy and dare Lateef to pass. But if Lateef isn't afraid to tuck and run if might open up the rest of the offense.

The new QB voice.

USC Post game presser. About 1:30 long.

TJ took ownership and gave direct answers. Impressive IMHO

Here’s an interesting hypothetical.. say TJ wins out and shows great improvement. What happens next year?? I know that would be an offseason question but an interesting hypothetical nonetheless

Raiola is still the starter and Lateef transfers.
But hopefully Raiola is the starter and Lateef returns with goals to be NU's starter after next season. (I seriously doubt DR plays college his 4th year and will go pro and get drafter after next season).

That would be very nice. But, I'm not going to be surprised if he does transfer. We have Dayton and Trae coming in, so we should be pretty decent.

Our QB recruiting has been very good since Rhule has been here.

Well that's the trick. Raiola still needs a very productive season next year if he want to enter the draft and leave the QB position to the next man up. The next man up knows that, too.

I too would not be surprised.

Dayton is 26, Trae is 27.

However, If DR leaves aftter 26, Lateef would be in position to start in 27 & 28 ahead of Dayton & Trae.
