Look I'm not gonna argue about what our guys should be listening to, what concerts happen to play in Lincoln, and what is and isn't a part of the culture. I'm trying to encourage folks to be a little more aware about what knowing what someone stands for before you make it a pitch to a recruit.

Sorry I didn't mean to imply you were, but the fact of the matter is, most of our contributing team is black. Black people relate to black people; in fact, they idolize them. I'm sure a good majority of our team idolize Jay-Z not only as an artist and figure, but as a "black" gentleman that made the most of his situation.
Telling them that they don't support someone they "idolize" is not going to help recruiting. Sorry. If there is something you can do to increase your chances to land a recruit, you do it. (If it is within the rules, at least.)

What because he wants to make money? How is it different than any corporate executive being greedy and wanting more in bonuses? I don't know many people who don't desire to have more money in life; if anything Jay-Z should be lauded because he has been successful at it.
And you act like him coming to a concert in Lincoln means he is going to meet up with every recruit in a sketchy room for 15 minutes so he can discuss his personal morals which you portray to be so horrible. The fact is that 95% of our 2-deep and about every single recruit coming in for an OV that weekend has 5-50 Jay-Z songs on their iPod they listen to everyday.
When every recruit outside the Midwest has the perception Lincoln is literally a cornfield with a football stadium planted in middle of it, why is it so bad to promote and say "look, you know that ultra-success guy who produces music you listen to everyday that you really enjoy, he is coming to town. We are not just a cornfield, one of the biggest stars in entertainment is coming to Lincoln, within a walking distance of where you live"
