For all you web designers out there, let's comment on the new Huskerextra.com!

I don't like it. It's a clusterf***. There are so many things to look at in that flash story rotator (i forgot what the word for that is). There's a big XII story box in the lower right and two, count them, TWO TICKERS on the bottom of it. The up next schedule looks completely unnecessary and looks really bad. The search bar that's beside the flash thing on the right clashes with the color scheme and it's the same with the poll further down the page.

Positives: the nav bar is very small allowing more space for content above the fold. Of course, if I now about this, the Journal-Star should've known and been utilizing it a long time ago. I also think the footer image looks pretty cool.

Overall: Crappy template that doesn't load very well.

Horizontal Navbar? Check

Big, clean images somewhere (the football and grass at the bottom)? Check

Headers with gradients? Check

Looking like it could be good, but not really being all that great? Check

seems like typical web 2.0 upgrading

Its OK but I think there is just a bit too much going on. Anyone can make a site that is visually appealing, but the best sites are minimalistic no matter how in depth they are. The most important thing is that its easy to navigate, and I think it does a decent job of it.
