Huskers #21 in Athlon's preseason rankings

Everyone can come down off their ledge. Someone has included Nebraska in their preseason rankings.

FINAL ANALYSIS
Five seasons into his tenure, Pelini has gotten the program back on track, winning at least nine games in each of those seasons and playing for a conference title three times. But the Huskers have yet to win a championship, and they’ve lost their last three bowls.

The offense is championship caliber and is directed by a veteran quarterback. The main concern is the development of a line with two new starters. But the defense is inexperienced everywhere except at cornerback, and a question mark coming off a season in which it allowed a staggering 214 points and 2,380 yards in four losses.

2400 yards in our 4 losses

You left out the projected 8-0 start heading into Michigan. Finally, an article with an optimistic spin for Nebraska. They have a lot of positives (particularly with offense, but a good secondary and some very exciting incoming defensive line players) with more questions than negatives (as the defense in not the same from last year, at least the players). We could definitely see some real sparks next season. And, because it has not started yet, I choose to stay optimistic. GBR!!!

I left out a lot of the article. Can't copypasta the whole thing, just a snippet for "fair use." That's why the link is included - so you go to the site and give them the business they deserve. We're not pirates. ;)

Yeah, but the 8-0 start (and the comments about eight home games and no Ohio St or Wisconsin) was the only part you left out from their "Final Analysis" section that you were quoting.

Also, I beg to differ about the pirate comment...

Just had to start your own post instead of putting it in my preview thread.... I see how it is.....

Jerk.

I think this is an appropriate starting point for the Huskers. But I got to ask. Who cares what our record is going into Ann Arbor? I don't get the fascination of being 8-0 playing Michigan. If we are 8-0 and then get killed like what happened the first time, what has been accomplished? Maybe I am missing something but it seems so arbitrary to care about this. What if we are 7-1(loss to UCLA, for instance) and then we go into Michigan and win by say 1. Did we learn anything more or less about the team?

I am worried about being 12-0 going into the B1G CCG and hopefully 13-0 after that and hopefully 14-0 after that.

Because in team sports it's preferable to win more games, as opposed to winning less games. It's really as simple as that.

Why do I feel like I'm in an AT&T commercial?
