Huskers and their opponents bowl payouts!

Sadly enough, I wouldn't blame Saban for leaving Bama, if he ever did. Those fans expect a championship ever year. The sad thing, they don't think they are beatable, but they have lost a game every year Saban has been there, except for 2009, but somehow find their way to the BCS Championship. The seem to forget where they use to be back in '03 & 04.

I think Saban went on record saying about when you have so much success somewhere, a lack of appreciation starts to develop, and I think he was implying that to his fan base, without actually saying it verbatim.
You have no idea. Well, I mean, you do, but Bama forgot the Shula years awfully quick. You should have seen their meltdown post Iron Bowl. Hell, it's still going. Some dolts even made a firenicksaban.com. Seriously. Other Bama fans blamed the Iron Bowl on the fact that CLEARLY Saban was focused on Texas and not the game. Cause AU NEVER could have actually won without that.

You're right, though, they think they're invincible even though they have needed some PAC 12/Big 12 ineptitude and even got in OU style without even winning or friggin making the conference title. I know yall hate Texas but this Georgia fan wants Saban gone. We have enough issues on our hands with FSU and AU recruiting our backyard and we need Saban out of here. I want to see the Bama meltdown and I want Georgia to finally get some pressure off.

It's tough out here for a pimp, man

I have a good buddy who is a HUGE LSU fan, and this is the same thing we have spoken about many times lol.

I actually picked AU to win that game. Won too obviously. The thing about Saban, he is a system coach. He always has stellar assistants, and they simply don't get enough credit when they do win. Kirby Smart was actually one person I wanted here if Bo was to be fired. If we were to get a HC with no experience, I wanted him. Saban lost because he had his mind on the Texas job... Lol, sorry that is a new one to me and I just can't stop laughing.

Oh well if any fan base is following this saga and loving it it's the LSU guys. They're the ones going nuts with the rumormill on our coaching search board. And not gonna lie, the iron bowl surprised me. I just saw UGA go crazy vs them in the 4th and then us lose on a mindumbingly awful Hail Mary on 4th and Grantham and thought that Bama had it. Sadly I missed the game cause I was at the UGA/GT game and after I called my dad and heard him go nuts when it happend while we were still on the phone. He's kind of an AU and UGA guy cause my sisters made the mistake of going to the plains and he watched it with my Bama uncle. Boy was that house awkward when I got back.

And Kirby is a good coach. And a UGA guy, so obviously he's the tits. That said, he did burn bridges in Athens when, by UGA accounts, he accepted our DC job only to use us as leverage to get a raise. But many Dawg fans pegged him still as our heir apparent if Richt decided to retire which isn't gonna happen now. They have some good assistants and McElwain I hear is doing pretty good at CSU. He has a nice tree going. Rumor has it, on the board at our site, that Kirby is now the Bama HCIW.

And laugh away pal, we sure as hell are

Not implying anything here just facts!

The BIG's bowl ties are a double-edged sword, lots of very tough match-ups leading to a less than impressive bowl record. But I certainly wouldn't trade them for the crap ties the PAC has. UCLA going to the meh Sun Bowl for $2,000,000 is lame. Hell Oregon is playing in the freaking Alamo.

Remember when Alamo was Big12 and B1G?

Haha, NW! Lulz!

Stupid revenue sharing, we should all be more capitalist like the big xii....

JK nebraska fans, Texas is stupid and bobs for apples in the toilet

and they like it.
Republicans: Grab the entire revenue and run. Cons trying to steal Salvation Army's xmas kettles and shoot down Santa's sled.

Socialists: Shared equally

At the risk of sounding like a d!(k, is there a point you are trying to make? Not trying to be rude. I just have no idea what the angle is.
You are not sounding like a d!(k by asking the question and I was not attempting to provoke any argument one way or the other!

Just pointing out the obvious; that we are "really going to a decent bowl" considering our season turned out the way it did.

There was no real point other than to say that with the win/loss results we had, we ended up in a better paying bowl than some of those who beat us. That being said, the bowl representatives still believe our fan base will travel to see the Huskers play. I was also just pointing out that after we all get done with our rants (pro and con) about team, coach and other issues, it still comes down to money. I would imagine there are some of the fans from the opposing teams that beat us this year that are a little bit miffed at how we ended up in a better/higher payout bowl then them.

Hooked on Husker: Quote from “Hail Varsity Magazine” Payouts = The Big Ten is unique, and pretty opaque, in how it handles payouts from bowl games but we do know this: While many schools across the country get to keep the money they earn from a bowl game, the Big Ten pools all of the payouts its conference schools earn, deducts those schools’ travel expenses, and then divides what’s left among all of the teams. It’s the egalitarian approach to postseason payouts.

Cool. I was just lost for a while there.

Takodas point that bowl assignments have a great deal of $ driven aspects to them is well taken. I agree.

Oddly, because NU has a fan base that is so faithful and so many fans all over and fans willing to travel... NU is always more attractive to bowl officials than their record warrants. That is, NU routinely gets better bowl assignments than their record warrants and it is because bowl officials know that NU fans will spend a great deal of money and that is less true for many other fan bases. Sadly, and somewhat ironically, because we as a fan base are so faithful, we are (in part) responsible for NU being over matched in bowl game after bowl game. This year is a prime example.
