I know its been covered in the game thread for PSU but it deserves its own thread. Congratulations, Huskers! First conference title since 2005:


 
Great way to wrap up a conference championship. I know that a lot of people on this board want NU to compete for CWS appearances and titles, but I don't know if we will ever see that again. Let's be supportive of the team and congratulate them on earning conference championships, regardless of what happens in the NCAA tournament.

I agree completely.

Outside of about 4 or 5 years, Nebraska baseball is now where it's always been: competitive in the conference with an appearance in the Regionals. Outside of the 3 CWS appearances, I think they've been to one Super Regional, right?

I mean, congratulations on winning the regular but considering how they backed into title plus another dismal tournament showing, MPBOB isn't wrong. Also, from here on out it is tournament ball and can't rely on another team to carry them into the next weekend.

How did they back into the regular season title? Don't the first weekend of conference games count the same as the last weekend of conference games?

 
Nebraska went 10-2 in the last 12 regular season conference games. They did not back into the title.

Hopefully, these couple days of extra rest for the players (especially pitchers) will turn out to be a good thing before Regionals. All of the NCAA baseball projections have us squarely in still today, not on the bubble.

I fully expect Michigan and Nebraska to be in... but we were playing for a higher seed and hosting. Neither of that will happen now...but honestly this may be for the best if we want a deep tourney run.

I don't think we would've hosted the even if we had won Big 10 Tournament. Not sure if we are a 2 or 3 in a regional now. Our RPI dropped to #43 because of Big 10 Tournament
Michigan/Nebraska/Maryland and Indiana make it IMO unless someone else steals a bid
