I never get the love for northwestern.  It seems every year people are waiting for them to break through and they never do it

Northwestern has somehow morphed into a trendy, sexy pick year over year. And, really, there isn't a lot to lose either way. If Northwestern sucks and wins four games the narrative becomes 'well, they're Northwestern, so what do you expect?' If Northwestern does really well and wins 9-10 games the narrative becomes 'wow, look at the great job Pat F. is doing at a school with all these disadvantages.'

I think Pat Fitzgerald might have one of the best college football jobs because of the aforementioned reason. They can stink and it gets credited to their university's disadvantages, or they can be really good and it gets credited to the coach. That's a win/win all the way around.
