You are right about that. The ball movement at times was horrendous and that is because we really don't have any legit scorers. It seems like we are a better team than last year with very good defense, but we are going to have to find a way to score points if we are going to make any noise in Conference play.Let's get this out of the way first. Was this game against UCLA ever one that Nebraska was going to win? No. Okay? Glad we got that out of the way.
Because the fact that this was a game that Nebraska had no chance of being in makes the fact that Nebraska was in this game throughout all the more impressive and positive. Like NUance alluded to above, we're finally seeing a "team" effort as opposed to the efforts of a single star player. We're seeing everyone drive to the hoop instead of just Pettaway or Shields. UCLA was averaging 104 points per game and came away with 83 thanks to late free throws. Nebraska had it down to a 2-point game deep into the second half against the 14th best team in the country.
Let's hope they can keep this kind of play up, because if they do, they could make some waves in the Big 10.
Although we're going to have to figure out what to do against a zone.
