I attended NU coaches clinic

Redout

Special Teams Player
The first annual NU football clinic took place on Friday and Saturday.

Among some of the things I as well as the other 800 coaches saw was a much more high octane practice. Also the coaches were a lot more participatory.

Got to hear Norvell speak twice and we talked for some time about the offence.

We also wayched the team practice twice, including some full contact scrimmaging.

I would like to open the floor up to anyone who has questions. I can TRY to answer to the best of my knowledge. Anything at all...

Hey Redout,

What player(s) stuck out to you during practice and which one(s) didn't?

What was the scrimmage really like? Did the offense really stand out as the newspapers had it?

Did Callahan speak, if so, what did he have to say ?

Any answers would be cool.

yo eric. so was the electricity all that? have you been to clinics when solich and others were on board? was it different? alot? did you want to run through a wall after you left? learn anything bout the new S&C program? meet the coach? see any studs that made your jaw drop? any hot whoas? thanx for sharin dawg.

For the "guest" first

I would have to say Ross and Dailey stuck out. First of all you have no idea how many passes Dailey throws in one practice. Second of all the reads that he has to make are sick. After listening to the coaches try and explain the West Coast offense to us, you'll understand that every single pass play depends on Dailey reading a man. Before the play and during. More on that later.

Ross was pretty solid. Yes he did have a 50 yard run during the real Saturday not the one where they kept putting the ball on the one yard line. All around the best back. Green was solid, but still a bit small.

Biggest idiot, loser, etc., on the field was David Horne. Jogged everywhere. Can into the huddle with his helmet off. (Only player to do that, that's why I'm mentioning that. Dragged a$$ in drills. They were hittin a sled, he never jogged back to the end of the line, NO INTENSITY.

As I said in the scrimmage the first part they put the goal near the goaline for the first dozen or so plays. I would say they scored on about 10 of them. The line had a solid push, something they didn't do up to the point in practice at all. Backs ran hard. Overachiever award goes to Grant Miller #33. Dailey had a nice rol out. It was really neat though whenever the offense did score, the offensive coaches went nuts, high-fives, hugs, screams. Especially Randy Jordan, the RB coach. He loves those guys. He loves when they make a good play, always encouraging.

To Husker Bob one of the things that really stuck out was how much they got done and accomplished in a 2hour and 15 minute practice. They do a lot of practicing before the practice, but still everything is timed and everyone moves.

Did anybody make my jaw drop?? NO, not really. I was satisfied with a number of players though.

Anything I can try and help you guys with, give me a yell.

What does the defense look like w/out Bo. Are they as structured and running similar schemes, or is the whole defensive package changing. OU's Defensive players said that he is bustin their balls on fundamentals and has made a big impact.

I wouldn't expect anything less!

Same type of thing with Cosgrove, although he says they will be running more man than Pelini did. Cosgrove really likes Bullock.

They do work pretty hard on the fundamentals. DB coach did a lot of drill work on proper tackiling technique and things like that.

But as much as Pelini....its hard to say.
