In 2002, before our 3 worst seasons since the 60's, we had a mascot named Herbie Husker. He was a big, tough cornhusker. He was our mascot and stood for what our team was about. That year we went to the National Championship game.

In 2003 lil red became our mascot. He was a giant punching bag. A soft, inflatable kids toy. Children loved him, fans loved him, he was a clown. We all loved how he would fall down. Herbstreet mentioned he was his favorite mascot. That year we were 7-7.

I say bring back Herbie Husker!

I believe Lil Red has been around since the 90's. I remember the first time my wife and I saw him and he didn't have a name yet, we always referred to him as the Campbell Soup kid. :)

this has been brought up before....lil red is just funny...he is for kids but yet he humps the ground before he stands on his head.....

the mascot to go after is the YMCA version of herbie we have now!!!

I always thought it weird to have two mascots. Lil' Red and Herbie should go at it, a mascot cage match to the death....winner becomes our mascot.

Lil red has won awards as a mascot, dont ask me why.I miss the original Herbie the big blonde farmboy lookin one.Does anyone remember the late 60s mascot with the big cowboy hat?

That thing gave me nightmares. His head was to small for the rest of his body... he was crosseyed.

He reminded me of a Colorado fan.

I agree with bringing back Herbie Husker. Or here is old school motivator, Mad Mike (I think that was his name). He beat a drum in different parts of the stands.

Better yet, lets have Cosgrove as our Mascot. He certainly has become a Clown!!

Yes I do. His name was Harry Husker. Check my avatar.

Harry Husker is awesome.

Personally, I'd like a Big Red threshing machine on the sideline devouring any opponent that dares to come near it.......
