So is it the DBs you are talking about? Green and Grixby were sophomores at the corners last year. If you're including the LBs McKeon and Ruud were starting last year as sophomores.

I am looking forward to next year with a vamped up offense with keller, mo pur, niles paul, lucky, holt and henry. As it looks Bowman is saying with Thenarse, Culbert, suh and hopefully a healthy OCTO. The filler we need is at DE. I think we will be a much improved team with more experience on the O line. My biggest issue is coz. we will NEVER win a championship with him here. He doesnt use pure talent like he should. why waste eligibility to players like Thenarse and culbert, and wilson when they could play as well or better than grixby and shanle. I just hope that we can find a new DC soon!

Everytime I looked at T.V. Grix (god bless him) was lined up man to man with no help.

Bracket and cloud coverage on the other side of the field. He played his a$$ off, but heart can only get you so far. Why not bring in Thenarse who's forte is supposedly to be physical, and talk smack, knock you down type. The defense can't be that complicated, or else it would work. I say give Cosgrove more time and talent. Remember what they used to say about Uncle Charlie? The defense tanks the next couple of years ax him.

i would agree with you accept he has proven his track record at wisconsin and has NEVER had a good defense and i just dont think we can win a title with him here

i agree with you on the statement that we will never win a championship with coz at control of the defense although I think he did have at least 1 top 10 defense i could be wrong on that though

I'm not a big fan of Coz either but you didn't need to look real hard a the OU game to see a major difference in speed at the LB and secondary position.

Mac Brown is a great example of what I'm talking about. Nobody has ever accused him of being a great coach but talent and speed make up for a lot, especially on the defensive side of the ball field. Pelini as an example is a great coach but he had some serious talent to work with as well. Nobody ever accused him of being a great recruiter though. He may be a great recruiter but nobody in college football would make it to a national title with the speed we've got once you move past the defensive line.

The scary part is that many of the recruites Blake was working with were linemen. This was the strength of our defense this year and may be a big part of it next year as well. What will it be in 4-5 years?
