I really don't fear Nebraska as a team. They have some nice players on offense and a solid team concept on defense, but they don't have anyone who is

ok let me see if I have this straight. this guy wrote an article about us, and said our o line is not as good(even though we really didnt lose anyone) and on defense he did even mention Suh??
Yeah I definitely don't get that. I think Suh will cause a lot of problems. For them.

I'm guessing he said pretty much the same thing right before last years UCLA game too right? How did that one turn out I wonder?

What is up with the thinking that we blitz more this year because we lost our D-Line? We blitz more because we actually have more than two corners and more than one safety that knows what he is doing, it has almost nothing to do with the line at all. And our O-Line is worse than last year? Considering we have everyone back and have a lot more depth I just have to laugh at that one.

UCLA and Oregon State. Also, I bet he was one of the multitude before the Rose Bowl with Texas that were saying "All USC has to do is stop Vince Young...Texas doesn't have anyone else."

And I would agree that we don't have the speed we once possessed on defense, however, to say that Octavian is "nothing spectacular"? Wow, talk about underestimating someone. He should ask WF if Octavian is any good.

Who exactly has Suh caused problems so far? He's made some nice plays, but he hasn't been dominant in any way the first two games of the season. We had one sack against Nevada. We blitzed 31 or whatever times against Wake, yet we gave up a ton of yards. Wake had to play vanilla offense because their starting QB was out of the game, and yet they walked all over the D. Until Marlon Lucky squeaked out a 20 yard TD run, he was averaging around 3.6 to 3.7 yards per carry. No, I didn't see a dominating offensive or defensive line all day. Keller did put us in a position to lose against Wake. Was it his fault? NO. It was because of a nondominating leaky OL.

I think they have a lot more players that could cause a lot more problems for us than we have players that could cause problems for them. In order for NU to win, USC is going to have to put the ball on the turf a lot whether it be fumbles or incomplete passes. Keller's gonna have to beat USC with his arm because Lucky won't have any chance with his legs. Bulletin board material or not, I think the article pretty much summed up our team. I just want to know when we're gonna grow an offensive line? Didn't Bill spend the better part of his coaching career as an OL coach? We could have Payton Manning back there heaving the rock and still be just as bad because our OL for the past 4 years has sucked, and they seem to be picking up right where they left off last year!!!!!!!

I don't think this guy has a clue what he's talking about. The offensive line is less physical? Purify is our speed guy? The defense is slow?

My guess is the guy looked at last years tape, read through the statistics of the last two games and put some slop together. I say he's an idiot. :moreinteresting

28 - 10. Nice original prediction. What a tool.
Yeah, how can he say the 'Skers will do "much better" on offense but still only put up 10 points on their own field, in front of their own crowd of 85,000? I think it's apparent he did a decent amount of research (although it is strange he didn't identify Suh as a playmaker), but his conclusions don't follow his reasoning. He just sounds like a USC homer who is wishing for the best.

I disagree, but at the least it was a very thorough analysis. Bowman is the nickleback now? I only know he's been playing, how much has he recovered from his injury?

There's cause for worry though. I think there are a lot of unknowns. We can catch the Trojans on their heels and steamroll them (with a little momentum in Memorial Stadium, it's possible). But we've also seen thus far a linebacker corps that hasn't exactly lived up to expectations (see Game 2), and if his analysis on the d-line is correct, a severe case of "we miss Adam Carriker." And we've seen this offense have appalling efficiency going against Wake Forest. It was a similar theme last year - we could not execute on offense, and if that trend continues, I think our defense falls apart and it could get really, really ugly. USC will want to make a statement after what LSU did, so if we lose the game early, the final score could be bad beyond imagination.

But then, we could win the game :)

I agree that linebacker play was horrible against Wake.

If we come out with no fear and actually play to win this time, then NU wins it in the first half. If they get on top and establish dominance early on, there's no way USC can get their sh#t together in Memorial. I don't think Keller is going to kill us with turnovers, nor do I think he should worry about it. He needs to play to win. I don't think USC will be bringing a perfect game to Lincoln, so I think the 'Skers can (and should) play loose with a lot of fire.

did you not see what suh did to wake when they go the ball on our ten?

as for wakes QB, their own coach said that there was really no difference between the 2 and that that kid had been in line to start last year before he was injured..... you make it sound like this kid was some scrub

He is a columnist not a reporter so his job is to give opinion not to be objective.

I agree with just about everything he said on defense after seeing the Wake game but I think the potential to be better is there and I am hoping we have a good scheme for the USC offense. Suh did well in some obvious run plays and short yardage stuff but he needs to be getting a bit more penetration each play. He is a solid player though especially without a ton of experience. He should be great as the season goes on. USC will be a very tough test for him. If USC scores 21-28 pts I would be happy with that. It would give us a chance to win.

Our offensive line will be key in establishing the run. We didn't run well last week so our O-Line needs to reprove itself. If they can get off the ball and hold their blocks it will set up the play action and also bring up a safety and allow Keller to get the passing game going. If we can score 24+ then we have a realistic chance.
