I think i need a break

These negative posters catch flak for falling off the deep end but people start threads letting all of us know they are so overwhelmed by a football forum filled with other people's opinions that they disagree with...they decide they have to get away. It's a game folks. Nothing anyone posts on here is that troubling.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's good to take a break once in a while. And get away from all the jack-assery and Husker bashing. I'm looking forward to your eventual return. You're one of the solid posters on this board who I like to read. :thumbs

I'd like you to stick around but football and boards like these are supposed to be enjoyable. If you don't find them entertaining or worth while then dump 'em! I completely understand.

Personally I think HB goes to sh#t after a loss. People just aren't the same...and its not fun.

Says the guy who suggested we burn down Memorial Stadium, fire Pelini, and dump Little Red ;)

Seriously though, if you have trouble putting it all in perspective and realizing that it is really a small portion of the fanbase that goes totally overboard bonkers when we lose, then it is good to step away for short periods. I am as bipolar as they come. I was more upset with our play in some of our wins like Wyoming than I was with the NW loss. Losing doesn't necessarily bother me but playing like we did against Wiscy or Michigan and losing the way we did really gets to me. Sometimes it takes as much as 4-5 days for me to return to reasonableness. But if I ever start calling for the coach to be replaced after 3 losses, no matter how much I am smarting from a poor performance, just shoot me and put me out of my brainless misery.

My experience has been that the vast majority of these "world is ending" threads are started by folks who rarely post here, but use this as a place to vent.
I've never thought of it that way, I'm probably a little more cynical. But yes you're exactly right methinks.

I get the sense that if the internet was available in the 70's that there would have been just as many "meltdown" threads then as their are now. I remember a time when there were barfights started over NU football and its coaching. I remember a time when several people around here broke out black and yellow on Saturdays (keep in mind I'm from a town really close to the CO border). The thing to keep in perspective in all this is the fact that most people are really involved in the football program. Nearly every fm radio station around here has Husker Nightly. There will always be fans who are never appreciative of what happens on Saturday, and there will always be fans who blindly praise things that happen on Saturday. This board is made up of both and then several in the middle.

agreed, this board is no longer fun after a loss. there are way too many unreasonable and repetitive posts to filter through to find the truly good posts. i mean seriously, do the same 5-6 posters need to post about how they are frustrated with the fundamentals of the program more than once? let alone 20+ times? sure discuss problems you see but the repetitiveness is crazy annoying. and for the record, this is so much worse than last summer.

Yeah, I know its hard not to go insane with how so with how inconsistent we've been. Plus not playing the backups when we're so ahead, or so behind- that I'll never understand but whatever.

We're now farther into the season with some bad losses and obviously no chance for a bcs championship this year so lets just.. care a little less.

I vote the next time someone with a husker in his name starts a Fire Bo thread, instant ban. Who's with me? sh#t's really getting boring.

yes, by all means, less start random banning of posts we don't like......that sounds reasonable in a country founded on free speech!

It's not that big of a deal. It just shows that those of us who were raised in Grand Island ( myself and powerwagon) are much more sensible than the rest of you. We generally don't like to brag of our superiority over other fans but, it is what it is. j/k :)
On a side note, i am not from Grand Island but my Grandpa was.

I think as soon as the repetetive poor play and fundamentals on the field lessen, so will those type of posts. Look at the posts after the MSU game and the general theme of posts was a positive. When people (fans) live and die with their team, the board is going to reflect that preceeding game until the next one is played.

It seems to me anymore there are just as many threads decrying the "negative" posters as there are threads by the negative posters.

Normally you can tell by the title thread what the content is going to be, if you don't want to read negative type comments, simply don't open the thread. Personally, I try to read them all, you never know when someone will post something that will make you think about something a little differently, and a lot of them can be down right entertaining to read.

As someone who has had to clean up a lot of messes in the past 72 hours, I do not share that sentiment.

Well, you would be the person that would know.

Just speaking for the NP's (Negative Posters ) eyeswear2allthatsholy though, it has sure seemed that way. I don't think I've seen people called idiot, moron, or retard as much in my entire life as I've seen in the last week here. And the derogatory terms seem to flow almost universaly one direction, from the "positive" posters. The negative posters (and yes I do realize there is a lot of negativity here) post what I think are legimate questions and are getting torched for it. I don't agree (at this point in time) that it should even be considered to change the head coach, but just because others do think that way doesn't make their opinion any less valid. It's just one person's opinion. If I see a thread title that says something I don't think I would want to read because I've seen it before, I simply wouldn't read it.

PS. I really believe most on here on just so passionate about their team, and like you said earlier, many are just venting. But some people (I admit to being one) really do see the glass as half empty. It's hard for that type to focus on the many positives that really are there. Bottom line, I really believe we all want the same thing.

I brush by the negative topics and read the posters with large post count most of them have good points both on the plus side and the negative.

But I do wonder if this hurts us in recruiting field most young people like stable home.
