My brother and I went to the USC/Husker game this week. First time we’ve been back in many many years. We asked on Huskerboard if anybody would let us join their tailgate and got a very nice invite from Rod and his family in lot 21. He even asked what beer we wanted him to bring us. We had a wonderful time at the tailgate with some very quality folks. Was a bit disappointed at the game in the “refs suck” chant, particularly since we had four penalties, USC had eight. Afterwards had several USC fans approach us and say what a great time they had and how much they appreciated and respected Nebraska fans and were treated very well, and said that doesn’t happen everywhere. With all the garbage going on in the world I’m proud to hear that.
With a very few exceptions, I was very proud to be part of a fan base that is largely considered to be the classiest in the nation. The whole experience renewed my perception that Husker fans are the classiest group of people around, and made me proud to be a Husker.
