Improved Scoring System

I get a bit frustrated watching our beloved Cornhuskers the last few years. I was thinking, what structural things could be done to improve the teams performance. Maybe a new scoring system would encourage the good stuff and discourage the bad stuff. Kind of how you do with small children when in early growth mode. Kind of where the Huskers are at now.

1 Point for a touchback into the endzone for the kicking team

2 Points for fumbling a punt or kickoff to the kicking team. If the same player has fumbled before in the season- add 1 point for every time he has. Yes, would require a computer. I would actually like to have a multiplier on this one, but that might be too much math.

1 Point for the fielding a punt inside the 5, awarded to the kicking team

1 Point for blocking a kick, awarded to the defense

2 Points to the defense for an interception or fumble recovery. If it is a backward pass or intentional fumble- add a point, 3 point play.

1 Point for having 12 players on the field. Awarded to the team that correctly has 11.

1 Point for the punting team when they down a punt inside the 5.

1 Bonus point to the offense for a touchdown drive of 12 plays or more.

1 Point to the defense if the offensive team gets a first down inside the 10 and doesn't score a touchdown

Maybe after game 5 or so if the toddler has learned their lesson- you go back to the regular rules

Just a starting point  :bang

This would be sorta like the scoring system they've used when they do offense vs defense spring games.

Isn’t this why we have coaches and a head coach? They’re supposed to be the ones determining good and bad and making the required adjustments. This convoluted scoring system isn’t required if the coaches are doing their job.

You realize this was meant in jest right?

Our coaches haven't been doing a very good job by almost any standard, even the most generous ones.
