He's had to change coordinators on both sides of the ball, conferences, and rebuilt a torn down fan base. He should get some time to find his way, or make a change and revist this conversation in 5 more years!

Coaches like Meyer, Saban, Les Miles, hell even Brady Hoke, since he had a great first year at Michigan, Jim Tressel all had the luxury of cutting their teeth as a Head Coach at smaller programs, and getting the juggling act of a Head Coach down before stepping into the big time. Then, when you put those guys in talent-rich settings such as Ohio St. Florida, LSU, Michigan, you have the result of quick championships. Nebraska is not one of those places. The argument that we shouldve spent the money on an established coach is logical, and legitimate. The issue with that is it didnt happen, it's in the past, and there nothing that can be done about it now. And the current state of the program light years ahead of where it would have to be to warrant a firing of Bo and the current staff, even with what has happened over the last week. So we might as well get behind it and be patient and see if he can turn a corner. Until then, 8-10 wins will just have to be good enough because that's who we are right now.

Urban Meyer is the exception to the rule. The majority of major college football head coaches throughout history have needed some time to find their groove. As hard as it is, we just need to show some patience and have this team's 6.

No he isn't. Had Urban Meyer not had his "health problems" at Florida, he would have been mired in multiple seasons of mediocrity.

Well, neither do these. He's 1-10 against Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Texas A&M. He's 9-6 against Kansas, Missouri, Kansas State and Colorado. What's that leave - a 5-1 mark vs. doormats Iowa State and Baylor? You can't build a legacy on beating the Cyclones and the Bears.As Nebraska has tread water, the Big 12 North - until this year - was appalling. How so? Iowa State nearly won the division title a couple times. Colorado, the 2004 and 2005 champ, was beaten 42-3 and 70-3 in consecutive Big 12 Championships. Now chew on this: The Buffaloes managed these division titles while dealing with one of the worst scandals in college football history.

Cosgrove is distracted by the on-field chess match. Too often, he asks his defense to read and react. He tries too hard to buffalo the opposing quarterback. As a result, Nebraska struggles with the basics. Tackling. Covering. Shedding blocks. The techniques are wanting in the face of a design that clearly leaves the Huskers in brain cramps. How often have we seen NU cornerbacks and safeties frantically signaling and running to cover their assignments? How often have seen mismatches created because of confusion?

But here's how it applies to Callahan and his coaching staff: What defines these Huskers? Who are they? Say you had to pick three on-field hallmarks of the Callahan/Cosgrove era. What would they be? What, if anything, can you count on?

Wow. That's scary how similar the problems are then and now. You could damn near insert "Pelini" in those topics and there wouldn't be a bit of difference between the teams.

Really? What proof do you have to make this statement? Especially considering he took a year off from coaching and comes back at a different school that is on probation only to have them undefeated and in the top 10. I strongly disagree.

Just a few I thought of. Only worried about a coaches time while coaching D1(I know that's not what it is called now) Stoop's record reminded me how good they used to be before his staff all left to be head coaches.

hmmm,,,,,why does it take so long...well, i would say nu has not had a good coach since osborn...look at bill synder of kansas state, takes 2 and 3 star guys, and in a couple years..they are great.....
