I found this to be an interesting read due to the team statistics provided by the author.

I think it shows that just about every major college program has had its down stretches--and a lot more recently than many might think. At least it shows that the struggle to regain prominence wasn't ours alone. (We just received more attention for our struggles, probably because we fired a coach after he had just won 9 games.)

How soon we forget how "perennial powerhouses" like USC, OU and Alabama were also-rans just a few years ago. My my, what a single coach can do for you.......

That is a good read. There's no reason that people should say Nebraska will never be back. All programs have their fall.,

Very good point, if Bo can keep the Huskers heading in the direction he is, they could become a major force in college football very soon. I don't think many on this board expected Bo to go 9-4 last year, nor thought he could have a strong shot at 10 or more wins this year. Like it has been said before, the Huskers are only 5 points away from being 10-1 now. This team is in a better position than some seem to realize.

Ive been makin this point since our downfall started. But if you look at the big picture, Oklahoma, USC, and Miami were just full blown pitiful during there's. At least we were "average" or "mediocre" Hell, we even played in conference championship game during our downspell. So what I'm sayin is when we're back on top, we'll say that we're pretty fortunate to say our downspell was not as bad as it couldve been.

the thing about perennial powerhouses is that they have so much established, so much money, such good facilities that they are usually able to come back with relative ease, it is not like building a program, it is rebuilding, which is much easier.

The only thing against our favor is the fact that all those schools have continually good recruiting classes and most are located in recruiting hotbeds. But if we improve as much on offense next year as we have on defense we will be sitting good for 2010.
