Interesting take on national perspective

NUinID

All-Conference
I live in the Boise area and was listening to local talk sports radio on the way home from work yesterday. They were discussing if NIU disserved to be in a BCS game. This is BSU country so one caller called in and was wondering why a team like Michigan with 4 losses was ranked ahead of BSU. Anyway Matt Prater told him its about schedual and went on to talk about who Michigan had lost to.

Prater is an AP voter, he then went on to say he had a hard time dropping Nebraska too much after the Wisky loss because there are at least 10 teams in the top 25 that have double didgit losses this year and that he looks at the whole body of work and NU had a very good season against there schedual.

My point is that we as Nebraska fans think the national perception of NU is that we really suck and that that is not nessisarily the case.

I know it doesn't make anyone feel better but it does show a little perspective.

I for one appreciate the sentiment but.............our loss was (almost)...closer to TRIPLE digits than to double....

Didn't say I was trying to make you fee better. I was just trying to point out that we as Nebraska fans in many case have a lot different perception of our team than the rest of the country does.

I think people understand that one loss doesn't define an entire season. I know when Bo loses he loses big, but that's just how it is and I really don't think that it's going to last forever. I feel that Bo has brought back the winning tradition to Nebraska and if he continues his succes we'll become a championship program again.

Our loss was actually closer to 1/3 of a hundred than 1/2, so no, it wasn't even (almost) closer to triple than double. Not that that's anything to feel good about, but there's really no reason to make it any worse than it was.

whether you lose by 100 or by 1 it still only counts as 1 loss. It sucks. Makes you look bad, but at least we still have 10 other wins to look back on.

what about 3 losses similar, and a very real possibility of adding a 4th in much the same fashion? what is the perception of a program that loses that way in almost 30% of the games they play?

A lot better then a team that doesn't make a bowl game, almost loses to Ball St & has very similar losses to Kansas, Missouri & Colorado.

won't argue with you there. but if that is the standard we intend on measuring this team against...then it's a sad, sad day. (and we almost lost to penn state, michigan state, northwestern, wisconsin 1.0, iowa....)
