4. Bowman turning heads: Cornerback Zach Bowman, a previously unknown fifth-round pick from 2008, has been the star of the offseason, and he has come on at the right time. Bowman was considered a potential high-round corner at Nebraska but he blew out a knee in 2006. All the guy does is make plays. The 6-foot-1 corner had eight interceptions and close to 20 pass breakups in the organized team activities and minicamps. With Charles Tillman out for most, if not all, of the preseason following back surgery, Bowman provides a solid corner who might have to be ready to start on the other side of Nathan Vasher for the season opener.

Good for him. I always knew he was talented as hell, just couldn't stay healthy.

Grew up in SC with this guy. Great guy. Talked to his cousin a little bit ago and he got married in the offseason. Nobody would have schoolyard races with Zach, even in 4th grade, unless you wanted to get dusted.

Great for him. Glad to hear he's doing well.

Talk radio here in Chicago is all over him right now. I hear his name a few times a day. Hopefully he'll see some significant time on the field this season!

I have a lot of respect for that guy. He was the only player to give up his Blackshirt because he didn't feel like he was living up to his (or the teams) potential. He pretty much got snowballed after that. Best of luck to Zack!

Great to hear. This kid has heart and obvious skill. Lets hope he stays healthy -- obviously that is all that has held him back. If he was healthy all the way through college and the pros, imagine where he would be. An all-pro I would guess.

I hope he does well. The Bears have a history of good former Husker cornerbacks.

He was in a little scuffle the other day at the Bears Camp. He should be making an impact this year.

BOURBONNAIS -- It had been a good, enjoyable first week at Olivet Nazarene for Zack Bowman -- until midway through Wednesday's practice.
Bowman got tangled up during 7-on-7 drills and went down for a few tense minutes with a strained hamstring, according to Lovie Smith. Smith said Bowman is day-to-day and called the situation "worrisome".

Bowman got up under his own power and walked with a medical trainer into the locker room. The latest injury stopped the momentum for Bowman's, whose health has been the only concern about him this off-season. He easily has been the most impressive defensive back.
A mixed bag, there. Hopefully he's OK.

Bowman suffered a hamstring injury while defending a deep Jay Cutler pass intended for Johnny Knox. After a bit, the second-year player walked off the field under his own power.

Coach Lovie Smith said Bowman is "day to day."

"For any position, it's worrisome when you go down," Smith said. "But I don't think it was a real bad pull or anything like that."
Good news.
