Damn... I was hoping it'd be a night game
I was surprised it wasn't 11 am.

I don't think a night game is even possible. Pretty sure the only slots on Black Friday ABC are 11:00 or 2:30 nationally and that's it.

And it obviously doesn't 'technically' count as a night game, but the lights will be on at least the entire second half, if not earlier. So, mostly a night game environment.

I think the lights are on for every game though... Thought they did it for TV reasons.

I don't care what time the game is on as long as we beat those overrated birds. I have not been impressed with Iowa at all this season. They played smart football and barely beat some teams. They just clinched the west and the pressure is on them to win and make the playoffs. We have a number of seniors that want to make this season memorable and I bet they come out firing on all cylinders. I really like our chances this week. I just hope that the coaches don't get in the way and that banker the clown puts our defense in a position to make some plays. Armstrong needs to be smart with the ball and not give Iowa easy scores. If we play smart, we win this game at home and get invited to a decent bowl game. If not, it will be a very looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong off season hoping that Riley has the BALLS to fire some of his assistants and hire some competent ones.

There's something to be said for playing smart football. Our coaches need no reminder of that after the Illinois debacle. And being undefeated. And winning your division. And being 3rd in the rankings. That said, I'm always underwhelmed by Iowa. They're a notch better than they usually are this year, that's for sure, but their schedule is garbage.

Banker says you can pound sand. He's riding a one game streak of his defense being awesome.

I have no idea why but the lights are indeed on for every game - even the 11:00 ones.
I would think that would be SOP. Maybe for TV. But, also, that way no matter what happens with weather, the lights artificial lighting is the same throughout the entire game. Also, you would hate to all of a sudden need them, flip the switch in the middle of a game and something not work. If they turn them on in the morning of game day, they have time to fix something if needed.

I think the lights take a while to come to full brightness as well. Better to have them on and not need them than to have them off and not be ready when you do need them I guess.

Its for the receivers to have an excuse when they drop a TD in the NE corner of the end zone.

And I'm not talking about just our players, all players. I was watching the replay of the Michigan State game a couple nights ago and noticed 1-2 passes that were dropped in that end zone and the players complaining, via hand motions, about the ball getting lost in the lights. Got me to start thinking about previous games and I seem to remember that end zone being the culprit to many drops, whether it was a result of the lights or the sun setting on an afternoon game. I wonder if there are any stats that show where drops occur most frequently at the stadium to verify my useless question.

Hmmmm......I believe the lights are geometrically in the same position in all four corners. So, if it's a problem in one end, it would be in the others as well.

Now, in the afternoon, the NE end zone corner would be more likely to be looking back into the sun until the sun gets low enough to get behind the stadium.
