Iowa Coaches AND Fans ready to give up the Black Friday game slot

that was pretty damn funny...

Most of the 'Hawk fans make pretty good sense, but there's a couple gems on there of those wanting to change the game...

Most fans seem pretty pissed off at the posibility of not getting to play on Friday. Some even seem to want to get rid of their coach.

So let me get this straight..

The Iowa Nebraska game on Friday got a 2.6 rating.

Outdrawing rivalries like the Iron Bowl (with Bama playing to get to a national title), UCLA-Stanford (with pac 12 title implcations for both teams as well as Oregon), Georgia-Georgia Tech and Bedlam...and virtually every other so called rivalry game of the weekend save 4, 2 if not 3 of which potentially had national title implications.

Only getting outdrawn by Michigan-Ohio State (with OSU trying to go undefeated), Florida-Florida State (with Both teams highly ranked), the USC-Notre Dame game (with the Domers trying to go undefeated and play for a national title) and the primetime CBS friday game of LSU-Arkansas...

in a year where frankly Iowa's program is a dumpster fire

And they want to give up THAT exposure?

Exposure that could reap massive returns for their program for decades to come in exposure and recruiting on a National scale?

Are they really that stupid?

Then we line up to play one of the other B1G teams. Iowa fans can not be this stupid. It has to be a few old timers, that still haven't digested their Turkey yet.

I doubt if the B1G will let this exposure, for our conference get away.

GBR!!!

Hopefully Wiscy gets put in our division so we can schedule them for the day after Thanksgiving.

pretty funny if you ask me.

clearly iowa fans don't want any form of success. if you don't want to play in a game that gave your program record exposure (it was a close game even) then it sounds like its time to shut 'er down. Why even play any games anymore?... It's just another chance to lose in front of people. What a bunch of tinkerbell's.

1- Keep Ferentz regardless. Check.

2- Screw around and lose national exposure game. Check.

3- Keep sucking and wonder why. Check.

Nothing to see here folks. Iowa is living up to the acronym.

It's really a little unbelievable they would even be considering it.......(do they not have marketing classes at Iowa?.....or are those taught by the same folks who teach trophy making?)

There's actually some Iowa fans that realize how stupid this move is...so there may be hope for that pathetic lot yet.

And then there's this assclown:

"Problem is thanksgiving break for students. Most Iowa students come from all over the state and when they go home, they aren't coming back. Nebraska on the other hand; most of their students are from a radius of 45 minutes from campus, making it much easier to go back for the game."
Please. If any B1G school is going to passively labeled a commuter school...it's the University of Minnesota. :-|

And frankly, if the B1G wants exposure and media dollars, then they'll continue to have the game on Friday--they'll just put another school in that has a fanbase not entirely comprised of eunuchs.

Penn State wouldn't be a bad idea...though if we get Wisconsin in our division after the realignment, the Nebraska/Wisconsin game would be a very good one for Friday going forward, IMO.

I am almost positive we have the same percentage of kids that go home for the holidays as they do. That is a ridiculous excuse. Most don't come back? Do you blame them wanting to come back to watch their team get their crap kicked in because they aren't that good? Don't get me wrong, they have and will continue to get good athletes, but being one of the few games on, your going to start to get recognized and could be that deciding factor between Iowa or Iowa State. Nut up Iowa fans, pull off your diapers and quit being cry babies.

After reading their forum, it appears to me that they are just pissed that it is a Nebraska tradition. Since they can't defeat Nebraska on the field they are coming up with lame excuses in a vain attempt to win something. I get the feeling that if they were beating up on Minnesota in that time slot the hospital parking and mythical student attendance issue would be a non-factor.
