Nah. Georgia showed their offense has problems. I didn't know that 9-6 games are now domination games according to Mills.
I meant that they dominated everyone else. I didn't think I had to say "besides the Alabama game". I thought that was pretty obvious.

If they win, I would say you could put them in the Top 20 of all time. 14-0 through the SEC, and their quality wins against ranked opponents sets a good argument. They played 6 teams who were ranked when they played, and 5 are still ranked in the Top 25, at this time (including #2 bama and the Pac 12 Champion Ducks.)

Consider all the recruiting loop holes for SEC ... no way.
I think Sam McKewon nailed this in his article for the OWH today. There's no doubt LSU is one of the most dominant teams I can ever remember, but I'm a young guy. The closest thing I can remember to a team this good would be the 2004 USC team that won it all (since vacated) or 2008 Alabama. They've so far had one close game, the Alabama game, which they fought tooth and nail and won. The next closest game was against Miss St. early on (still a 13 point victory). None of the other games have even been close.

But was McKewon said rings so true.. these juggernaut LSU and Alabama teams that are preparing to square off for the BCS title are a result of two big name coaches establishing themselves in recruiting hotbeds and then oversigning their asses off. THey took as many big time recruits as they could get their hands on and said screw the future, whatever will be will be. The good players will eventually rise to the top, and the rest will just be SOL.

There's no doubting Miles or Saban are great coaches, either. But piling up as many talented players as possible, regardless of concern for consequences down the road (for the players and possibly the institution), let alone morals... you're sure as hell not going to ever get me to admit that's how you build a team.

I voted yes. I actually think both Bama and LSU are two of the better college teams ever. I'm probably in the minority, but I'm glad Okie State didn't make the title game. I think it would have been a very lopsided game. Okie State's D really isn't very imposing. They've lived off getting turnovers. The game they lost the turnover battle they lost to lowly Iowa State. LSU doesn't give up the rock much.

I would put them top ten right now. I can't think of many teams that can boast this resume:

Beat current BCS #5 Oregon by 13

Beat current BCS #23 West Virginia by 26

Beat current BCS #25 Auburn by 35

Beat current BCS #2 Alabama by 3

Beat current BCS #6 Arkansas by 24

Beat current BCS #16 Georgia by 32

Their average margin of victory over currently ranked opponents is 22 points. The average rank of opponents they've beaten is 13 (BCS). Overall they've beaten six currently ranked teams, and they beat eight teams who were ranked at the time of their game.

Being purely objective, disappearing offense aside, I can't put them anywhere other than my top ten, and that's even if they lose to Alabama in the rematch. If they win, they're definitely top five, probably top three.

Of course, my #1 All-Time Team is the 1995 Huskers. That year they beat four teams that finished the final AP poll in the top ten. If Georgia trounces Michigan State it's possible they could finish in the top ten, and if Oregon and Arkansas both win their bowl games, that'll give LSU four wins against season-ending top-ten teams as well.

However, 2011 LSU vs. 1995 Nebraska? I'm giving the win to 1995 Nebraska. The Pipeline will always be the deciding factor in that debate.

I posted about this in another thread and a South Carolina fan came into the thread with his head in the sand and basically said that oversigning in the SEC is a myth, I call BS, this is a HUGE advantage that the B1G has specific rules AGAINST to protect the kids from these types of practices, consider this, the year that Bama won it all they had three big time players, Ingram, Julio Jones and Marcell Dareus, that all came to Bama in the 2008 class, they were the 29th, 30th, and 31st commits in that class, if the new "Houston Nutt" rule is in place then (28 LOI/year limit) there's a possibility that they don't sign those guys, a quick database search on Rivals shows that at Michigan we've had classes in the 24-17 LOI range with one outlier that was 27, but that was allowed by the B1G because we were way below the NCAA scholarship limit because of the attrition following the Rodriguez hire, we had the scholarships available...

I know that some disagree, but I personally find oversigning to be flat out unethical and I don't like it...

If they win the National Title I don't see how you can't put them up there, they beat 3 teams that will playing in a BCS bowl game this year, think about that for a second. If they beat Bama which at this point how don't see how they're not favored then yes. Or at least look at it this way, over the past 4 SEC teams to win it all is this LSU team better than them?

I would hope by now that any prospective recruit looking to sign with Saban, Miles, or Spurrier knows exactly what they are getting into and might be greyshirted at the last moment, cut, or otherwise forced out if they need scholarship space...which seems to be every year. I seem to remember watching a video on ESPN some time ago about one kid who had his scholarship yanked at LSU sophomore year and Les Miles didn't even have the courage to tell him about it in a face to face the day before. Just sent his parents a form letter, and when they tried to call the school Les was off in the Bahamas.

They are definitely top 10, if they win big in the NC then top 5 but heck Alabama pretty much gave that game away by missing 2 - 3 field goals?? 2011 LSU vs 1995 Nebraska....tough game but Nebraska wins by 2 touchdowns! JMHO

I voted yes.

Reason. If it was Nebraska in the exact same position, would I rate them one of the best. Answer is obvious.
