Badgerfan, the parents in your metaphor would be representative of Montee's and Rex's parents in real life, not of the "o-line."
Everyone on this message board is not "family," in your metaphor world. We'd be the committee evaluating the SAT essays written by both Tom (Rex) and Joe (Montee). You're arguing that Joe's (Montee's) essay is better, which all Nebraska fans are agreeing with. However, Nebraska fans are torn between the two because Joe (Montee) wrote a fantastic essay on an easy question, while Tom (Rex) wrote a solid essay on a difficult question. The essay is the task, where in real life picking up yards and touchdowns is the task. The only variable with the essay is how difficult the question is, and in real life the variables that make that task easier include the o-line, QB play, WR play, even defensive play.
And to get out of this godforsaken metaphor - the idea that Montee Ball is one of the best RBs of all time is so wrong it's almost laughable. Also, when did 32 TDs become "almost 40?"
