Is Nebraska in the right conference? Should they make another jump?

The only conference it would make sense to jump to would be the Big 12. However, we would lose a TON of money, not to mention they do not have a television network. Meaning, some of our games would only be available streaming online. I don't think anyone wants to go back to those days.

But the author does have a point - culturally we may not fit. We fit better with the Big 12 or has he says the SEC - esp the west division of the SEC. Our biggest issue, however, isn't culture - it is hiring coaches that can't get it done during the past 10 years or so. Bo probably would never have gotten us into the upper quadrant of the Big 10 either. Right now - we are just middle of the back in the Big 10 in football. Can Rhule get us to the same level an OSU, PSU, Oregon and Michigan even USC (who hasn't been great but they maintain the relevance and respectability factor). And now there are upstarts of Indiana and Illinois to deal with. From a competition, rivalry standpoint - the Big 12 or SEC West would be a better match for us IMHO. However, if Rhule can turn us into a 10-11 game winner consistently, then we'll get the respect back that we use to have and rivalry games will actually mean something.

Don't think Rhule can do it.

I thought the media was supposed to save this regurgitated nonsense for the offseason every year? Besides a good portion of the fanbase is dealing body blows to Ari Wasserman and Tom Fornelli's lazy speculation. I suppose Fat Porde (c) Schaefer is grateful for that. The Big Ten is far superior in everything versus the Big XII except driveable day games. I liked the Big 8. I never cared one iota for the Texas teams. The SEC would not help that beyond Columbia, MO trading out for Iowa City, IA.

I loved the move to the B1G. I feared Nebraska could get left out of a major conference with the threat of numerous Big 12 teams bolting for the PAC 12 at that time. We were pro active & it paid off except in the win column, but that's a whole 'nother story.

I never identified with the Big 12. Playing Texas schools in November in 85° heat never felt right. Give me the chilly autumn colored leaves on the traditional B1G campuses. THAT feels like football!

Oh, and Iowa as a last game of the season, border war rival, feels way more right than Colorado or PSU ever did. It will probably never be what Nebraska vs Oklahoma used to be, but that was a lifetime ago.
