I guess what I'm saying is that I think Pelini is doing a good job. He was a first time coach, so he had a lot to learn (like controlling his temper while maintaining the fire). If he continues to post a winning record, graduates kids, and runs a clean program, are you willing to give him some time, or are you going to ride his @$$ every time he makes a mistake?
This is nothing new in Lincoln, of course. They almost chased Devaney in 1968 when he went 6-4. They almost chased Osborne in 1976 when he went 9-3-1. Thank God they got some time to build their programs and learn on the job.
I've lived and breathed Husker football since the day I was born. When Nebraska lost to Northwestern, trust me, no one wanted to talk to me for two days, but some of these posters want everyone fired seemingly every week. Were they alive during the 80's? We sure learned patience then. Perhaps, they were coming of age during the 90's, in which case, they might be spoiled rotten, and anything less than 12-0 is a fire-able offense.
So my original question goes back to the state of the program. We're competitive again. We've been so close to winning two conference championships. It's only been four years with this coach. Why can't you cut the guy some slack?
