Is this anyone else's favorite time as a Husker fan?

I was born in 1987 and remember '94 through '97 like the back of my hand, despite being really young. Those were the days, man.
This.

I was brought into it spoiled, so it's not surprised that I have high expectations, but I don't think it's realistic to ask for a 60-3 run or the years of 93-97 for any coach. I was not able to admire the 90s as much as the guys that lived through the 80s but I know my Husker history of how difficult it was from the late 80s to the early 90s, but I never looked at it like that, and now looking at it through that angle, you guys can appreciate that way more, which is kind of a nice twist, hopefully that is what the 2010s bring us.

this is the best time for me, because its now, and callahan and pedey are gone, and we dont suck. We have unfulfilled hope.

btw, I was at the 96 fiesta bowl, cried my pre-teen eyes out at the fsu loss, etc. Those days were fun, but this is 'new' I guess, couple with the end of the big6-8-12/impending move to the big ten... to me its not even close that this is the most exciting era in Husker football that we're currently living through.

In the 70's, we had a lot of trouble with OU. However, the late 80's to early 90's was really tough. It was very troubling playing a southern team in a bowl only to get pasted because we just didn't have the speed in the secondary to even challenge the receivers. This was where the transformation started recruiting a lot more speed. I doubt we'll be able to give the teens a rerun like the 90's. In the 90's when we had our run, a few things happened within the conference. OU was all but erased from the scene with sanctions and probation. CU had a legendary coach retire and replaced them with a crappy Prick Nudehypesel. We really weren't challenged from a conference standpoint other than a glimmer here or there. By joining the Big 10, I don't see us as skipping through conference play nearly as easily as we did in the mid-90's.

Wel, I think a lot of that was us always playing Miami @ Miami. They were an outrageously talented team back then and always playing at thier house didn't help one little bit.

Those mid 90s teams would have rolled through the Big10 like a hot knife through butter.

Well since there's no one old enough to chime in:

Nebraska beating Okahoma in the game of the Century, Thanksgiving weekend, 1971. Every kid in my neighborhood just ran out into the street yelling and screaming, and a dad or two shot guns in the air. Not only was it a game for all the marbles, it was a thrilling and incredibly well-played game. The teams combined for one turnover and one penalty for five yards. And it was Thanksgiving time, so my football memories also come with cranberries and stuffing.

A month later we utterly crushed Bear Bryant's Alabama, 38 - 6 in the Orange Bowl. At the end of the season, as I recall, Nebraska was ranked #1 having beating the #2, #3 and #5 teams behind them. We walked on air for a year.

But yeah, it's a different kinda fun rooting for a team on the comeback, and watching a Freshman quarterback who seems capable of changing everything. Could be a great year. Call me in a couple weeks.

Born in '80 the passion truelty intensified throughout the 90's. I can relate to the utter thrill and joy after the back to back titles because of really getting into the game in the early 90's. I remember the heartbreak of fairly big 4th quarter leads against Washington and Colorado who would go onto win or split National Titles(Damn you Hagan and Bienemy ruined my first Husker game in Memorial Stadium, my dad actually apologized after the game).

The 1996 season is like knapplc said, the texas game never happened. ASU was VERY good that year and that was a hell of an environment for Frost to go to as a fairly newbie.

1997, you had the kick. An ending I missed cause I got pissed off and went golfing only to have my mom ask me what I thought about the game, little did I know. And dominating Peyton was great.

1999 we were the best team at the end of the year. A blatant BS screwover call down in UTerus screwed that year up. That team was also freakishly loaded.

And oh if you youngins knew about the We Backs, Leodis Flowers or Keith Jones you'd be like Aaron Who?

Yep, we were screwed like a 2$ whore being left out of the NC game in 99. VT played a Boise St schedule but the drunk sports writers put them ahead of us. Of course, they were crushed....

I went to the Gotham Bowl, need I say more, but the Game of the Century was the one I will always remember, it meant more than any other game to me, still does. Beating Spurrier was special to say the least, kind of sad with Peyton, I really liked the kid and now the man he has become.

But today it is very exciting, because we hope we are back, but not quite certain, things are moving the way we want, but we need that one game of just dominationg a quality opponent, Arizona was close, but not there yet.

Having Taylor play the way he has as a freshman. comparing him to Frazier, it is very exciting.

But I have loved every season I have seen, from start to finish because I am getting to see my favorite team play the game I love, win or lose. Every year is the best and it only seems to be getting better knowing the number of seasons are dwindling and I seem to enjoy more and more. Every game brings back my grandfather, hearing him cheer and seeing the love in his eyes for his Huskers, we have been watching these Huskers together for nearly 60 years, and I never get tired of it.

90's were my favorite as a kid although I've always loved them the same it's nice seeing us on the rise. I doubt we or anybody else will EVER get to the level we were at in the 90's.

Guy....I'm old enough to chime in! Beating Oklahoma in the Game of the Century was unforgettable! I can still hear Lyle Bremser calling the game...."man, woman, and child"! It was a Thanksgiving Day tradition!
