Apparently the KU Band has a long standing tradition to sing this after they enter the area under the stands. I have never seen them do it, but apparently it has been gonig on for a long time. I heard a student from Nebraska instituted the tradition, but I was wondering if the Huskers use this song? Are any of you familiar with the song? Just checking to see if anyone knows anything?

To my knowledge the Husker band doesn't use this song. If they do, a couple of friends and one relative of mine who were all in the band failed to mention it. Granted, they were all in the band in the 90s, so this could be a new thing.

I've never heard of this song. Here are the lyrics for anyone interested:

When it's hog calling time in Nebraska,

When it's hog calling time in Nebraska,

When it's hog calling time in Nebraska,

Then it's hog calling time in Nebraska!

:)

One note - that band of yours can sing a tune. They sounded pretty good. :thumbs

This sort of fun is one of the many reasons I love college football above all other experiences (college basketball a clear second)

When it's hog calling time in Nebraska...

...we usually go after girls from Lawrence. :)
Other than Austin, TX, I am not sure there are better looking women anywhere in the Big 12 than Lawrence. Maybe some ties for second with us...

Are you being serious right now?

Ever been to Boulder or College Station or any school in Texas. I hate CU but they have them some hot wimmens, man.

Ditto, Boulder has the snow bunnys. I would put KU on the same level as Nebraska... Home grown girls. We arnt on the beach and have 4 seasons, hot girls arent coming to the midwest for school

Wow..Tricky lyrics.

Did the same genius write "Boomer Sooner"?

My older brother was a member of the UNL band.

..If they ever did do this "song" I'm sure he would never admit to it.

Dang..It's still stuck in me 'ead.

Somebody..Quick! Come up with some lyrics.

When it's hog callin' time in Nebraska.

You can bet, you'll be tempted to run this way..

When it's hog callin' time in Nebraska.

Make sure you got all your daughters locked away.

I am pretty sure the KU band didn't make up the song. I heard that a long time ago a kid from Nebraska liked to sing the song, and it became a band tradition to join him. I have no idea if that is the right story. I don;t think it is meant to demean Nebraska, and it is catchy. I hum it all the time now....

This sounds like an old school diss track to me, like they are really just mocking our state. Then again that would mean KU students would have to understand irony, and I'm not sure they teach complicated concepts like that in Kansas schools. :LOLtartar
